Oh my gosh, I know. I was freaking out for a second because I thought he actually was going to forget the black men in his category. It was so uncomfortable.

Right, but that's exactly what he was commenting on. He was making fun of the fact that they all have screwed up priorities, and what they do isn't that important in the grand scheme of things—but by making a joke, he managed to say that without insulting the entire industry that he works in. That's why I thought it

You understand that he made choices in his life that do not reflect upon your choices or anyone else's? And yes, you are sensitive. He wasn't advocating for anyone else to drop out of med school in order to become a television producer. He wasn't claiming that should be anyone else's priority.

In this case, I don't know if it's racism so much as Hollywood's somewhat strange obsession with Jennifer Lawrence. I mean, seriously, Lawrence is an OK actress, and I get that she seems like a nice person, but I don't get how she's suddenly the Best Actress Ever. Lupita Nyong'o delivered an amazing performance, but

He is a comedy writer. It was a joke.

I think you're a bit more sensitive than I am, I guess. Because I thought it was funny and charming. He managed to be grateful, excited, silly, and self deprecating about the silliness of his excitement all in one sentence.

It was just a self-effacing joke. If THAT sets off your 'inappropriate' alarm, you must be a very sensitive person.

Yeah... that's what we call a joke. He wasn't serious. He was using overstatement to poke fun at his own life choices.

Yep, this is my thought. Love Jennifer Lawrence, liked her in American Hustle, but if that was the field of nominees? Lupita should've won for sure.

Ohh guy who makes people laugh for a living telling a joke.

I love me some J.Law, but Lupita was robbed. Hopefully this gross injustice will be corrected at the Oscars.

I get the idea that Parks and Recs helped for Brooklyn 99 but by that argument Parks and Recs owes everything to The Office and we could go back like that for all of TV sitcom time.

I will defend JLaw to the ends of the earth, but the fact that Lupita did not win is a fucking TRAVESTY.

The reaction of Andy Samberg to his win was the highlight of the evening.

Agree with your assessment of Brooklyn 9-9. Like the show, don't love it. Parks & Rec and Girls much better. Plus Andre Braugher is the best part of the show, not Samberg or Crews.

You know what would work great? If we put ALL the abusive assholes in jail and stopped acting like the injustice is when one dude actually does NOT get away with it.

I'm pretty sure that even the most well-meaning members of the Hollywood elite are terrible narcissists, which would explain the obliviousness, I think. In other words, I don't think it's willful ignorance. Just absolute, narcissistic obliviousness.

I think both are scum, but considering Mia Farrow has given testimony on Polanski's behalf, I don't really think she's got much of a leg to stand on.

Every time Polanski is mentioned people mention that he's a hideous rapist. Every time.
And the fact that Polanski, Russel, & Allen are hideous, doesn't make Brown less of an abusive asshole.

Look, he may not be the Hollywood ideal, but Sean Penn is NOT ugly.
