I do tend to agree that not many folks will jump at this chance. As folks have pointed out on Twitter, the life of a G league basketball player is not very good. Long bus rides, flying all over the country to play in tiny gyms with almost nobody watching, no TV coverage, etc.

Honestly? They’ll probably change the rules in the off-season. But it’s easier to just waive your hands and say you can’t do it because of X reason now instead of having to do a formal rule change in the middle of the season.

Hot take, but they are right to ban this kind of play. With the targeting rules as they are in the NCAA, players are (as they should be) gun-shy about clobbering a dude just standing there defenseless. Hell, it might even be a personal foul even if it’s a live play -- the refs could just say he had given himself up.
