Yes, I too have purchased vehicles and have a thorough understanding of how the process works. Heck, I’ve even sold a vehicle that had a lien on the title to a private party. Apparently neither the kid nor grandpa did any sort of due diligence when they purchased from a private party though.

Yes, I too have purchased vehicles from dealers and paid cash. But that’s not what the kid did. The kid purchased from a private party and failed to verify the status of the title.

They do have cool cars but they make a trade-off for that, which is basically that they live in the wild West and things outside their back door will kill them.

So I can’t make an assumption about the status of the title but you can make the assumption that the kid “bought it and drove it for six months with no issue?”
For all we know the kid was blowing up the salesman’s phone asking for that title and has been pulled over thrice.

It’s not right or honorable to fall on the sword for someone who made the single most boneheaded move of all time in car buying. Who the hell would fork over cash for a car without verifying the status of the title? This kid was running around in a vehicle without a title for five months. I’m not pulling for the kid

But here’s the thing, if the dealer’s story is true, they don’t owe the kid anything. Again this is a big if the dealer’s story is the truth, someone forked over a pile of cash for a vehicle and didn’t think to ask for a title. A title and keys in hand are a pretty iron-clad way of owning a car.

Something stinks here. In what world does one pay cash for a car and not receive a title? There are three things that determine ownership here. The car, the title, and the cash. If one possesses the vehicle and the title, it can’t be repo’ed. Bad on grandpa for letting the kid fork over cash and not get a title.

Why in the world would the dealer give the kid anything? Bad on grandpa for letting the kid pay cash for a car w/o getting a title.

Further, they specifically set out to pass the bill in question out of regular order. They knew they couldn’t pass their leftist wish list the way that laws usually pass, so they took the path less traveled and it still sucks too badly to pass. Sounds like a personal problem to me.

You should seek professional mental health counseling. What you wrote is some stalinist shit.

It’s not Joe Manchin. It is the majority of the United States Senate. It is 50 republicans and 2 democrats. In other words, this shit stain legislation is done. Over. Caput. Get over it. And Joe Manchin doesn’t owe anything to the other 49 democrats in the Senate. He represents the people in one state, and they don’t

Oh the Conrad, very nice. If you have time for an AZ trip this Spring, check out Boulders resort Scottsdale. I think it’s usually ~80k/night, but you’re in your own little desert casita with a patio on the golf course.

That’s funny. I carry a pretty big bag, selling devices as well as some lab instrumentation and consumables. You’re closer to Diamond for Life than I am, though. I think you have to hit Diamond for a decade to get life status? I’m only at six years, haven’t even hit 1,000 total nights.

170 is impressive! Covid has put a damper on my business travel because hospital access is a little low right now but even in my busiest year I didn’t hit 170. My PR is 168. Are you also a salesperson?

Giant yawn from me, dawg.

Nicotine is generally my coping mechanism of choice. Crowded airport getting under my skin? No biggie, just throw in some Copenhagen. Traffic? Puh-leez. Marxist aunt with a smug sense of self satisfaction going on about whatever? I just say, “yep a lot of people feel that way” and then hit my brother’s vape.

This is a well known fact at this point. You don’t need a citation for general knowledge like, “the sky is blue”

Wow. The very simple and pure genius of your response is absolutely golden. Never change!

You have to find a lab with the proper equipment and it costs upwards of $100. It’s called an N95 mask fit test and it involves some kind of hood with fragrances spritzed in. I’ve never done one, I’m just familiar with what they are due to my profession. Quest Diagnostics locations usually have the equipment.

There’s no scientific evidence at all that 6' does anything to mitigate. It was literally an arbitrary number that got thrown out there and everybody just ran with because it sounds good enough.
