@elizaboo: It will never go away. In part, that is because Roe v. Wade leaves open the door for some regulation, and, speaking as a full-throated supporter of abortion rights as well as a lawyer, the decision is as a legal matter something of a mess.

@thebutton19: I really don't think healthcare financing reform was passed for Obama and Pelosi to "gain political foothold and a mention in a history textbook."

@rd2uk: No, but this sort of zero-sum thinking isn't helpful. I am not at all happy about the abortion compromise, but I *am* happy about the fact that they got health care done. I channelled my anger at the compromise into making a donation to Planned Parenthood yesterday, and today I am looking into how to unseat

@thebutton19: So, what's your alternative? Do you really want the Republicans in power?

@ClioAames: Not if we all go and vote and work hard for our candidates in November, they can't.

@wtfox?! (at large): Polygraphs are inadmissible as evidence of guilt (or presumably of innocence) but they can sometimes come in for other purposes, none of which I can imagine would apply here.

@GGobsessed: Agreed, but since the Judge won't explain herself, it's very hard to say. It's certainly weird and disturbing.

@funchefchick: Better to do it in the name of Congressman Lipinski of Illinois who refused to vote for the bill despite the executive order.

@Breamworthy: I don't really know. I suspect not. My guess is that you can keep what you make before you are convicted.

@Breamworthy: They are innocent until proven guilty. Although they are certainly guilty of stupidity and poor taste, they *can* make money off their notoriety for now.

"Things I Wouldn't Be Caught Dead In" for $1000, Alex.

I channeled my anger at the compromise into making a donation to Planned Parenthood today and encouraged all my friends on Facebook to do the same. A wave of donations in the wake of all of this would send a nice message, and it's tax deductible!

He should be getting a visit from the Secret Service any moment — and if he doesn't, I'm gonna be *pissed.*

In a sea of horrible people doing and saying horrible things, there's the gem of Ed Asner's happiness. It warmed the cockles of my heart.
