I see what you mean but fyi “Jack Nicholson on drugs” is redundant. ;)

The fact that she didn’t know enough to take it down until she got caught tells me that on some level she still thinks it’s ok or not a bad thing.

I’d like to know how the answer to How would Jack Nicholson look like on drugs got elected in the first place.

She was using it as liberally as a Southern woman would’ve used Aqua Net in the ‘80s.

You always ask yourself “where are the police?” when stuff like this happens. In this case, they were literally driving by, while the guy was standing in the highway swinging a weapon, and they didn’t even notice.

Truth.  I remember reading somewhere recently that only 50% of the population alive in 1100 in Europe have living descendants today on account of the Black Death, other diseases, war, etc.

You need different people.

I have had a sizable number of people stay that to my face and were serious.

Easy.  Any fossils over 6,000 years old were planted by Satan.

You’d prefer that scientists not continue researching into what they’ve already researched, and just stick with the initial conclusion?

This tracks with something I read a few years ago that said the number of combinations of facial features is in the hundreds (might've been low thousands), which is why people that aren’t related can look alike.

I’m having trouble seeing how this is a surprise. They’re not saying that there were 1,300 humans alive at that time. They’re merely saying that only 1,300 of the people back then have descendants living today. There could have been whole branches of humanity (people numbered 1,301 to, say, 200,000) who had children

But it’s not always the case that population bottlenecks threaten populations—look at the flightless, sexually inept kākāpō of New Zealand or the critically endangered vaquita porpoise, whose main threats are human-introduced threats and humankind itself, rather than small genetic pools”

The small genetic pool would

Thought it was going to end with “ Fortunately, those reproductive individuals loved to reproduce. “

So, in other words, they’ll keep doing a science. Because that’s what you just described.

Judean Date Palm?!

Coelacanth are a Lazarus taxon, not species. The species “re-discovered” in 1938 was not the one scientists thought went extinct 75,000,000 years ago. It’s a different species. And it’s not the only coelacanth species left. There’s a second one found in the waters around Indonesia. Scientists had thought the entire

The east African species of coelacanth is considered endangered apparently due to commercial fishing in that region accidentally catching them and putting pressure on their population. The separate coelacanth species found in Indonesia is apparently more populous & not technically considered endangered (but instead

This is seriously outdated information on the coelacanth, Wikipedia was updated why didn’t the author check?

Well PNG is a dense place, I am not surprised at all that a dog population survived with nobody seeing it. My dads friend was a bush pilot there years ago and found Japanese WW2 wrecks and people that had never seen a plane before.
