Counterpoint: T Rex wasn't king because dinosaurs were an autonomous collective

100% agree with Stego being in the top spot. I got a stuffed stegosaurus in 1980 and Stanley is still around to this day, for good reason (though he mostly hangs with the kids).

If it helps people with disabilities, that’s fantastic. The applications for ‘every day people’, I have ethical and practical concerns with. The fact that’s it’s Elon Musk’s company raises the ethical and practical concerns to ethical and practical alarm bells.

So he’s still pretending the entire point of the research isn’t an implantable chip to make loyal servants who won’t betray him in his bunker?

Well, they technically don’t have to pay the monthly fee, but the constant ads in their dreams are halved if they do.

The guy who likes antiSemitic remarks is interested in human experimentation? Where’s Harrison Ford to punch this guy in the face?

The way things are going with Muskrat, I’m just waiting for him to announce a brain implant that can “suppress the woke mind virus.”

Did they waive the $8/month fee for the chip recipient, or was this an added upcharge?

All this time I never realized great white sharks are “ovoviviparous”, getting pregnant and birthing live young. They hatch eggs inside their bodies and nourish the newborns with a sort of shark milk.

The only time I have seen blastomycosis in CSF was amongst the severely immunocompromised.  It would have been interesting to know what the actual statistics were re the cases in Vermont: what % of the people were immunocompromised?

Gee, it’s almost like raising the temperature of the Earth has all kinds of unforeseen negative consequences.

From the iguana’s perspective:

As the proud owner of a small child, I can confirm that they are also generally quite disgusting. As such, I’m sure the lizard also picked up some form of infection by biting the girl (and eating her cake).

Now give me a solar system wide radio telescope array. That’s some real fucking science fiction type science.

So, an isopod that looks like salmon sushi would be out then?

RIP little Mars chopper. You greatly outperformed expectations - a testament to good space engineering.

Stating “because China” when something controversial and/or corrupt happened in China is kind of superflous (because it’s so damn obvious), but not doing it is also pretty damn cowardly.

So much for “fans are slans,” huh?

Mark Twain and Rex Stout would say that the purpose of these awards is to popularize literature. As far as Babel is concerned, the Hugo has succeeded.
