Fun story - the first time I rented the game, there was a save at the last save point, just before beating Smithy. With no previous experience in the game, I was able to beat him handily, so I can only imagine how overleveled those characters must have been.

Oh right, I didn’t think about the Home button. So maybe you’ll have to turn the console on and off manually or something but hopefully it should work!

I guess - like “it looks really close to what I expect it to look like (from the SNES original), but not quite.” I can see that I guess, I haven’t heard the term used that way.

Oh that makes sense, yeah some RPGs do stuff like that but the vast majority don’t.

As far as I know, they haven’t announced anything in that regard yet. But I believe the NSO SNES controller works with any Switch game that can be controlled with the buttons that controller has, so if the new SM RPG lets you navigate with the d-pad and doesn’t require the second triggers you’ll probably be in

It occurs to me that I never paid for the original game, so this will be the first time I’ve paid for it. I rented it as a kid on the SNES but never played through it entirely until I emulated it in like 2001.

I liked it fine back in the day when they remade Final Fantasy 3 and 4 for the DS, but I also have to admit that the stylings of the Pixel Remasters are just prettier to look at (and I imagine will age considerably better than the 3D versions did).

I’m curious - why do you like Super Mario RPG if you don’t generally like turn-based RPGs? Obviously no criticism intended, but I love SMRPG and the entire turn-based RPG genre so it makes sense for me.

I don’t know if this will be any good, but it definitely does look cute. As a near-lifelong Psyduck fan, I definitely like what I’m seeing.

I think one of the big reasons they were compared (other than simply existing at the same time) is that they both had an autistic main character (or in Sheldon’s case, not-technically-autistic because then they didn’t have to portray it accurately). Abed and Sheldon were both interested in nerdy things and had

Sure, like I said that’s not the part I’m responding to.

When Ryuji asked the question, I fully expected my options to be limited exclusively to the women in the room, as that would reflect the original Persona 5’s extremely limited view of romance.

I haven’t played any of the Persona games, but I feel like “the main character isn’t gay” isn’t the same thing as homophobia. Like, I know it’s a role-playing game and he’s the main player character of the game and so ostensibly the role that you are getting to play, but just because you can make a lot of other

Blade Chimera looks like it might be fun

I think the test is less “can a computer calculate chess moves and can those moves be communicated to a player wirelessly via an anal toy” and more “if you’re doing that, can you fool someone who actually knows how to play chess well into making them think that you aren’t cheating”.

Yeah as far as I can tell, it’s using the exact same network protocols as the existing Remote Play phone apps. There is a niche market of people who are fine with the latency but want a bigger screen, better controls, and for it to not tie up their phone (and are willing to pay $200 for it), but I’ll admit it’s a

I can see the appeal of the Portal - if off-screen play is something you’re doing a lot already or are interested in doing a lot, having a dedicated device that doesn’t tie up your phone and drain your battery and that has a closer-to-standard control scheme might be worth the money. But for a lot of people, something

I imagine that depends on you and your usage - if you use your Backbone a lot already, then you might not mind the $200 price tag for a device with a bigger screen that doesn’t also drain your phone’s battery and (mostly) prevent you from using your phone while playing. But if you only use the Backbone from time to

Can’t think of a good reason not to just do that all the time.
