You’re not listening to me. I said right at the start that WW1 affected WW2. WW1 partially caused WW2. It led to it. Whatever synonyms you want. All I said was that it’s not accurate to say that the second event includes the first one. No one hears someone saying “World War II started when Germany invaded Poland” and

Fair enough, though that doesn’t really have much bearing on who played him.

Come on man, you found one article that said that it “started WWII” and the article only even says that it “laid the foundation” for it, which is a substantially different thing. You’re wrong here.

To continue the history analogy, you’re essentially arguing that WWII started in WWI or any time before 1939. Like, it is true and accurate to say that a lot of the factors that led to WWII came from the events and aftermath of WWI, but WWII is a discrete event with its own established start and finish.

Nah this is accurate. They weren’t the first chicken sandwich on the market, but they were the first one with a chicken sandwich good enough to make a dent in Chick-fil-A’s apparent supremacy in 2019. McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and others had chicken sandwiches previously but they weren’t really competitive to Chick-Fil-A.

Tell me you’ve never had a milk steak without telling me you’ve never had a milk steak. Or a Grilled Charlie. Or a hoagie (that you make in your mouth). Or a steak from Carmine’s.

A lot of those are coffee shops or bars, I don’t know if they qualify as restaurants.

I get what you’re saying, I just feel like the number of people who would 1) recognize Martinet voicing Mario with a different voice and 2) care if he’s there or not are really a tiny minority of their intended audience that only really pops up on sites like Kotaku. And that’s not to say that Chris Pratt and Charlie

A decision that still confuses me, honestly. No disrespect to Colleen O’Shaughnessey, she’s great in the games, but next to Ben Schwartz and Idris Elba, I feel like she kinda disappears. And by recasting the other game characters, it almost feels like disrespecting Tails, like he’s not important enough to bother with.

I tried both in the last few days so I wanted to weigh in and tell you that you’re wrong.

I don’t know why you think that we don’t know that he can act, like I thought what I said was obviously a joke. But if he DIDN’T do the same voice as in the game, people would complain there too. They were damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

I also feel like, if they did cast him, the further Martinet strayed from the game voice, the more people would still complain. Like, what’s the point of hiring the guy if he’s not going to be doing the voice(s) that everyone knows him for? There’s no good way to have Martinet that 1) will be enjoyable to listen to

I know Martinet is a professional and can fully voice the character, but if they did that then you’d get the same people complaining now being like “why’d they even bother getting him if they were going to have him do a different voice entirely?” And if you’re going to get Jack Black and Seth Rogan, it seems weird to

I love Charles Martinet in the games but two hours of “let’sa go!” and “it’sa me, Mario” and “mamma mia” and “yah Wah HOO!” would get pretty old. Chris Pratt isn’t perfect but I understand that the studio didn’t want an Italian stereotype joke as the voice leading the whole movie.

Also, out of all the characters, Donkey Kong has had the least consistent “voice” in the games. He’s the one who should be the most open to vocal interpretation.

Right, he wasn’t being a diva or anything. Clearly, the people making the film said “ok, we want Donkey Kong to sound like Seth Rogan” and moved forward. If they had said “we want someone to do a voice” then I don’t think Rogan would have begrudged them for going with someone else.

I don’t think NYC is typical for renting across the country. That’s how it breaks down in cities/downtown areas where the buildings have been around for a while and there’s no space to build new things, but every apartment I’ve lived in (suburban or at least not in the city center) has been part of a much larger

I’m sure in 1989 when it was released, Super Mario Land was pretty cool for the sheer novelty of having an actual Mario game on a handheld console. But on its own merits, it’s just bad. I never played it on the original Game Boy, but when I first got around to it on the 3DS I did not enjoy it (but it did make me even

LIFEHACKER’S BACK, BABY!

Yeah, that’s what I mean - historically, it’s hard for any 3D Mario game to top 64, but objectively, as a person in 2023 playing both games, I know which one I think is the better one.
