I got maybe a dozen hours in - for anyone who got further than you, I beat everything in the tutorial and in the first area (Velen) and then got bored in the second area (Novigrad). The combat was too repetitive and having seen the Netflix series and read a couple of the books, I didn’t get much new from the setting

Oh yeah, “open faced” needs to be specified on the menu.

Almond milk is milk because it’s used as milk and in place of milk, but you can’t give almond milk to an infant and expect it to fulfill their nutritional needs because it isn’t really milk. I’m 100% fine with loosening the meaning of the term “milk” based on its usage, but that’s the same argument behind my other

Played The Witcher 3 for the first time a few months ago and I eventually got bored and stopped playing, never came close to beating it. But I enjoyed Gwent. Didn’t get into the existing standalone because, though I enjoy it, I’m bad at it and didn’t want only PvP, but this sounds fun.

IMO an open-face sandwich is an example of something that is named for what it isn’t, like almond milk or white chocolate. The comparison is still a good name, even if it isn’t strictly accurate.

The problem described in the article is mostly losing keys after intentionally locking the door/deadbolt.

Another place to put a spare key is your car, if you have one. Just toss it in the bottom of your center console or glove compartment. If you lose your home AND car keys together, it won’t help much, but it will mean you won’t need two locksmiths.

Fun fact for renters - a key labeled “DO NOT DUPLICATE” means nothing, there are no laws that actually prohibit you from duplicating it and no legal punishment for this. Of course, your landlord may have it in the lease agreement that you don’t do it (plus, if you do want duplicates, they may want to charge you extra

I think it comes from the differences in AC technology - if you have a thermostat, you are turning the numbers down in order to make it colder, but if you only have a low/medium/high control and no numbers to represent the temperature itself, you turn it up to make it colder. The question is unfair since, with

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Hawkins, IN was a test market for the NES, they got it in early 1986 as well so of course everyone in town would know about them.

I’m sorry that your local Costco was out of (checks notes) every other cookie ever made.

Oh yeah, if I had them more than once or twice a year I’d absolutely be with you. I barely fly, so they aren’t actively offensive.

I’ve still never been to a Pinkberry (since they’re pretty heavily regional and I don’t live in those regions), but I like Menchie’s. I used to live really close to one and I went all the time, but I stopped when I moved and it became inconvenient. I was under the impression that covid was what killed the most recent

I never flew in the “good old days”, but I get what you mean. People are treated like cattle and only given the bare minimum (if that) to get through the trip. But that’s the price we pay for lowered cost and I guess most people determined that they would rather pay less in order to get to the same destination, even

Biscoff is about the most blandly mediocre cookie I’ve ever had. A friend of mine told me recently that they were his favorite cookie and I was frankly gobsmacked. “The ones they give you for free on airplanes? THOSE?”

If you want plain, glazed doughnuts I haven’t seen better than Krispy Kreme. So light and sweet when hot and fresh (and they reheat in the microwave pretty well). It’s obviously not what everyone expects as a doughnut, but I’m from the same city they were founded in so that’s always been my baseline.

The Xbox 360 handled HL2 and the episodes without issue, I gotta think the Switch is more than a match.

Yeah, this isn’t a fast-paced shooter we’re talking about, I played through the whole second game on PC and PS3 without issue.

I got bored maybe halfway through the first Mario + Rabbids game, it was feeling too repetitive (and frankly I think that’s where the difficulty level started being more of a match for me and so the battles were more difficult and less fun). Might still check out the sequel though.

IIRC this was before Impossible was on sale in most stores and you could only just buy Beyond. I agree that Impossible is better, though. And yeah, I definitely wouldn’t make it an everyday meal, it is very expensive but I was curious about cooking with it.
