After the collapse of Cinefamily, Beyond Fest has really stepped up to fill the ‘movies are fun, dammit!’ void in this city, and I thank them for it.

If only they used the Neil Cicierega edit:
I blame the fact that higher ups in Starfleet were so often revealed to be evil or assassinated. Each newly promoted bureaucrat wanted to put their own spin on the fleet.
She did get retroactively Goblin pregnant, though. Thanks for that one, Marvel.
Gamora is a simple fix, though. Thanos’ vision at the end shows that her soul is almost certainly inside the soul gem itself. Combined with the Guardians series’ love of all things 80s, GOTG 3 is going to be a big riff on The Search for Spock, isn’t it?
Am I crazy, or does it sound like he’s doing a subdued Terrance Howard impression?
From the hip episode one twist theories: ‘on the beach’ Bernarnold is actually Delores. No point in establishing that the hosts have mechanical, swappable looking hard drives if we don’t get a brain switch this season. And if not, he’s certainly not Bernarnold. Maybe he’s William?
One of my most memorable ‘eh, what else is on?’ late 80s HBO mainstays was ‘The Wrong Guys’, where all of the leads are oddly playing characters that aren’t themselves, but HAVE THEIR ACTUAL NAMES, and the bad guy was named ‘Duke Earl’. I haven’t seen it in 25 years but now I kinda want to.
I did a second watch tonight to clarify that and what he actually says is he saw ‘something’, and when he tells her, he ‘knows’ she’ll turn in response, not that he saw her turn - looks like it was just the ‘your parents were no one’ thing, he was certain that revelation would make her join him.
I’d say we find out about as much about the emperor in the original trilogy as we get about Snoke in this one.
Vader’s (political) power in the OT is pretty inconsistent, ignoring all EU stuff to explain it away - in ANH, he’s seemingly outranked by Tarkin, but by the sequels he’s the emperor’s right hand man.
‘Story elements like that need structural scaffolding to feel earned.’
‘meticulously planned out and researched OT’? Vader wasn’t Luke’s father until the like 5th draft of Empire, and Leia wasn’t his sister until a few months before Jedi shot!
Nobody was making fun of Andy Griffith, I can't stress that enough.
WARNING: I am Thirst-ay! And it is Fruit Punch! And it is Delicious!
I'M A SMALL DETAILS GUY, WHAT CAN I SAY
This is HBO, I'm sure at least 20% of the dead horses were real.
I think I finally figured out why Cersei's current season wig looks so weird - they're digitally recoloring it in post, the same way they sometimes do with Ollie's suit on Arrow. It ends up making the lighting look all weird and the wig more noticeable.
Oh, they're working for them, too, just in sales.
Working in the industry for one of these giant tech conglomerates, it's entirely accurate. They may be introverts lacking in social skills, but put them together in a room and it's damn near every negative frat bro stereotype you can imagine.
