I watched 20th Century Women. It reminded me a lot of Boyhood in its nuanced look at family dynamics, especially between mother and son, as well as riveting performances from pretty much all the actors. All the raves for Benning were well deserved.

I wasn't planning on it, but ended up running the whole thing in one sitting. Lots of fun, but I agree that it wasn't nearly as good as First Day. I had hoped to watch the original movie before the new series, but was very disappointed that Netflix doesn't have it right now, which is just dumb.
I noticed this years ago at the supermarket. Thighs are the way to go for best bang for your chicken buck!
Do chickens have HOX genes that direct the growth of an entire limb? If so, why stop at 6? Personally, I'm a fan of thighs, so could you add a couple extra legs?
You're not the only one! Maybe finally getting around to seeing Days of Heaven will cure me of that.
One of the more surprising things I learned while reading Patti Smith's "Just Kids" was of her relationship with Shepard. It seems that both of them had a connection to every hip thing that was happening on the New York scene in the early '70s.
I'm a Yooper, and I prefer ketchup. The slightly sharp flavor and cool temperature provides the perfect contrast to the warm meaty flavor of the pasty.
I had the exact same thought. Does Kendrick Lamar just go by his first name now, or is William Hughes a close personal friend? [Edit: well damn, should have scrolled down.]
Doesn't everyone sneak food in like I do? Though that's tough to do with popcorn, unless you bring in a really big purse!
This trailer got me as excited as The Force Awakens trailer, and that's really saying something! I wish I had a bunch of pop-culture obsessed friends IRL to have a Halloween/Stranger Things viewing party with!
I watched Nashville for the first time this week. I've been trying to catch up on "classic" movies I've never seen, and I generally like Altman's work. It was fine; I enjoyed it mostly for the fun of watching so many very young actors who went on to much bigger things. Young Keith Carradine was very sexy! The "making…
I have a soft spot for this one because my husband and I saw it in the theater the year we were married, so the mushy romance hit home. I've seen it on TV a couple times with the perspective of 25+ years, and while it's not great, I would never call it a "bad" movie.
Well, for me hanging around includes endless household chores, up and down stairs, out to the garage, etc.
Damn right. Bright orange crocs are my standard "hanging around the house" shoes.
…with nail polish.
Lizard person. Get your facts straight.
No, it's exactly the opposite. Fundies like him believe that all women are temptresses who will seduce normally good Christian men into sexual depravity.
I teach environmental science, so do a lot of reading on the topic. This is my favorite recent article on the topic. It straightforwardly presents the effects we are already seeing; to the point and not over dramatized.
A friend of mine has been asking people of all political stripes to use one word to describe Trump. Yesterday he told me that a Republican acquaintance answered, "Honest".
You can't make this shit up.
I just drove through that area on the Tri-State and was amazed at how much shit is there now. But then again, I'm old and still think of Allstate Arena as the Rosemont Horizon.
