Strongest argument possible for the man behind it all to be another Loki.  Just the one that got there first, realized his only real competition was himself, and built a giant system just to keep any other Lokis from getting strong enough to depose him.

My big wish is for them to both survive this season and (eventually?) end up together, they’re not only great together on-screen but it’d show actual growth and provide tons of new material. And, in the end, it also totally makes sense since they are Loki, unless she’s actually or also the Enchantress. I’m thinking…

Kudos to Richard E Grant for remaining dignified in that utterly ridiculous “classic Loki” costume.  There’s a short list of actors who could pull that off without losing all credibility in their performance.
