Thank you. Despite everything that has happened, I still can't bring myself to detach completely, my mom and sister are great, and my dad has been doing much better since my child/teen years. Since I've been away at college he picks on my sister a lot more, and now that she's heading off to college I hope my mom will

Thank you. I'm so sorry that you and your sister went through all that. I'd be very interested in reading your blog. Also, how do you PM someone? (Don't really know how to use Kinja...)

Are you familiar with the recipe book Veganomicon? My bff's family is vegan and they borrow it from the library all the time - maybe your local library has one too.

I'm home for the summer and most of my friends are unavailable, so I spend a lot of time around my dad. He is constantly picking fights with the rest of my family - he gloated for days that he knew my relationship would fail and he was so happy that it had. Today my mom was talking to me about my college president and

Last week my best friend/boyfriend broke up with me. I'm doing OK for the most part, but I really miss the everyday conversation (we agreed to not see or talk to each other for the summer to get rid of all the romantic feelings, but I've slipped up with that every now and then.) My friends have been really supportive

Two of my all-time favorite shows are Monk and Psych (on Netflix) They're both detective dramas with comedy elements - Monk is about a former police officer with OCD and Psych is about a guy who is a gifted detective but pretends to have psychic crime solving powers for the lulz.

No, but I would crush on guy friends and hope to God that they would reveal their straight single-ness to me. Only worked once.

I consider myself an independent young feminist, but being a rising senior who just got dumped, this scares me more than I'd like to admit. Shame feelings :(

Fellow art school student here. I feel your pain.

I am a manga fanatic who LOVES recommending series, so this will be long. here are some of my favorites:

Good artists borrow, great artists steal - or so it goes. ;)

Your gifs never fail to make me laugh! Pure internet gold.

Thank you :) We were really close before diving into a relationship, and like you and your ex it turned out that our romantic needs were different. Right now we're at the no-contact stage but he expressed an interest in remaining friends, so I gues we will have to wait and see. Your story has me feeling optimistic -

:) I'm really glad that things worked out for you. Hopefully my ex and I can eventually become close friends again.

Er, what I meant was "we're not the only ones feeling this way."

That's the thing - I do still care about him and am afraid that I might end up trying to twist the situation in favor if getting back together in that way.

I'm sorry that you had to go through that too. It was him who made the (week-long, dragged out) decision to end things, but he was a lot more tearful and devastated than I during the whole thing.

Thanks for the insight. I just broke up with someone who was one of my best friends as well - hopefully we can both come out of it okay and rebuild a friendship eventually.

Jezzies, is it possible to go back to being friends with an ex-lover?

Thanks. I've started to reach out to friends who I've not talked to recently, and they and my family have been very supportive.
