Me too! After I saw a half-squished one wiggling around I developed a serious fear of earthworms. Ughhh. I hate that 'worm smell' that comes right after the rain, it makes me sick.

Whew! Just finished my second-to-last final project, illustrating and typesetting an excerpt from a philosophy book. Now my fingers are swollen from embroidering the pages :/
Food trends always seem to hit the West Coast way before they ever make it to the other side of the US. Being from Pennsylvania and my boyfriend being from LA (capital of food trends) makes for some interesting food-related conversations.
ModCloth is a collection of pieces from independent designers and boutiques, I'm pretty sure they don't directly make most of their stuff. I also think that's why their items cost so much, since they're produced in such small numbers.
Am I the only one here who doesn't like ModCloth? :( Their aesthetic is really great, but the few things I've ordered from there have been really disappointing quality-wise.
Ah, abstinence-only logic: eschew condoms and prevent teen pregnancy by literally removing babies having babies from sight.
Some makeups do have chemicals in them, maybe your skin is less sensitive.
I don't wear makeup for health reasons (almost everyone in my family has extremely sensitive skin). Throughout my teens I had kind of a complex about it, that people didn't find me as attractive because I didn't have any mascara/liner on.
It's not like the chemicals in makeup suddenly absorb into your skin while you're sleeping - it's happening while you are wearing it and walking around. By taking it off at night at least you're minimizing exposure. Granted, most makeup brands really low amounts of chemicals but a lot of people have really sensitive…
If I’m on my own, I won’t sleep in it, but my husband has never seen me without makeup.
I think he makes a good point that countries have programs to control invasive species that aren't emotionally close to us (the cane toad problem in Australia comes to mind).
Yeah! The kitten spilling the milk everywhere was pretty unexpected. I kept wondering if it was okay. Is that a thing cats do?
Uh... based on the still image, I was expecting something entirely different. (Still cute though.) Did that happen to anyone else?
Totally. I have a good number of crit horror stories, some of which involve me personally...
My own experience in the 'creative' fields has also been that paid internships are few and far between, unless you work for a big company like Martha Stewart that has an established internship program. I didn't get pay at any of the smaller places I worked at, just the promise of 'portfolio pieces'.
Hooray for art! I'm a junior in illustration. You?
I feel like whenever a specific fashion or 'look' gets involved, it always moves into the domain of people with money. Of course thriftiness and DIY doesn't cost much, but the 'hipster' outfit of oversized glasses and trendy patterned clothing does.
Amen to that.
To me, a hipster is someone who projects an un-traditional persona and has un-traditional hobbies not because they genuinely enjoy these things, but because they want to feel superior to the 'normals'.
I think the reason why so many people take issue with hipsterdom is the "uppity-ness" that you mention. There's nothing wrong with liking certain things and activities, but it gets ridiculous when people get really judgemental about it. After a certain point it becomes a lifestyle that really separates the…
