Another 3-4 years? They got one more in the Hobbit trilogy, and who knows what Cumberbatch will be offered and unable to turn down.

The Office US comparison tends to reinforce rather than contradict the point.
The problem is that Moffat is presented as the face of British TV by the BBC right now, and that's a problem as his productions have definitely gone down in quality.
I'll defend McConnaughey here. Just because he's been cashing checks from stupid rom-coms after Lone Star and only recently decided to start choosing better projects again, doesn't mean he hasn't always been a committed actor.
But that's kind of McQueen's general ouvre, yes?
The Before team don't need Oscars, seriously. Twenty years' worth of critical appreciation and intense fan loyalty basically beats all this bullshit. I'd go so far as to say that the Oscars don't deserve to be dignified by them.
I'll be one of the five people who loves Huckabees, even after knowing how badly Lily Tomlin was treated.
I surprised by the dominance of Gravity at the BAFTAs though, even knowing that it's heavily financed and staffed by Brits.
Well, I haven't seen it, not really planning to. I look at it and think it looks like Boogie Nights, and I've already seen Boogie Nights.
She's becoming tic-y. Admittedly, as an over-60 actress, I'd take everything offered to me, too, but even Streep had to agree that Tina Fey's joke was on point.
Better than leaving it out in the cold like the Hollywood Foreign Press.
Yes. I was listening to the commentary on Dazed and Confused and he was talking about needing to have moments like the scene where all the baseball players have to shake hands after the game. He doesn't articulate a theory or philosophy of cinema. But it's clear that he's been developing a point of view about what…
Well, yes, I think I meant to compare Davies' era to what Moffat's done.
SO LATE … but isn't all that the shebang of the Moffat era DW? I was watching Eccleston's last two episodes. I was struck that characters were allowed to talk about things other than the Doctor and had lives and concerns other than time travel. Characters like Mickey and Jackie were actually meaningful counterpoints…
Noooo … I'll fight anyone who says that James Stewart is the kind of actor who just plays versions of himself.
Yikes, that explains everything he's been trying to do for the past few years.
Watching the marathon right now, too sleepy to finish wrapping.
Grant said that the About A Boy character was most like himself, and was furthest away from the stammery-cute characters.
Sorry, is that for real? Season 3 was/is the best. All the stand-alone meta-pop-culture-commentary finally turning into cohesive episodes.
Hi Paula! I think you are not a stranger to the Elementary TV club, so I refrained from commenting when you were around b/c really who needs another Paula? ;) Also, this Disqus nym is old and I'm too lazy to get a new one just for AVClub.
