Paying someone else to do a full and proper swap would be like...20K. So for a couple of hot minutes back in 14 or 15 I seriously considered selling my 13 to buy a finished example for a little less than 30K.
The Crosstrek already has trouble getting out of its own way. I’d sooner shell out for some kind of WRX engine swap before slapping another 45-50 Lbs of unsprung weight onto mine.
NEWS FLASH:
I would drive / vacation in (or perhaps build a mobile workshop out of) one of those. IF the range could be at least doubled.
