If they don't take the mid engine design, I would think they should take the Esperante design philosophy on. A front engine, but so far back that its pretty much mid engined. Change isn't always bad though.

Go get a cherokee. You can purchase the vehicle, do an axle swap, engine rebuild, lift and new wheels/tires for under something pretty well south of 10k. The engines are bullet proof, make sure to get the 4.0 HO, you can feel the little bit of improvement. If you were to do an exhaust on it, they don't work too well…

There are four or five of them in my area and they definitely have the whole "this truck means my dicks big" thing going for the owners.
