But I love Dakar Yellow. Admittedly it looks better on boxy designs.

Thinking back on it, I have ridden and driven many models of 3 series. The one that left the biggest impression, though has been the e36. The inline 6s in the e36 have a raw telepathic feeling to them that I have never felt from any other 3, they all comparatively feel muted. The interior ergonomics of the e36 are

I just had my Mini in for an oil change at a Mini/Bmw dealer. As I waited I walked around the lot and looked at the entire inventory. About 20% of the Minis, new and used combined were stick. Where as the BMW selection was quite different, the only manual was a beat to heck e36 that looked like it had been dragged

It is much easier to set the bar low and then heighten it as need than to aim high with the bar. This gives the model 3 room to grow. Considering it is essentially and “3 series competitor,” eventually there will be a performance model that is an “M competitor.”

You would be surprised how little the general public knows about car style. My parents own an e38, probably once every couple months someone will ask if it is a new model and compliment on how awesome it looks. I should note that BMWs are not all that common where we live.

I did take a test drive in on of these, it was a particularly mediocre experience. I am wishing at the time the manual had been available as that might have changed the experience, however they weren’t at dealers yet. I found the engine particularly annoying, no power below 3000 rpm and then it died off at 4500 rpm as

I want one. I should buy one. That seems like a reasonable thought process...

I drove one when my local dealer had an i3 test drive event. It was a hoot. Very fast off the line and all of the corner holding capability you expect from a BMW. I was rather impressed with the performance. The only thing I couldn’t get into was the super aggressive regen braking. It was so aggressive that I managed

Watch all of the CSI variants, especially CSI Miami and see how many e38s they destroy. You would think the director had a bad experience with one or something.

I have been to that dealership! They are a great group of guys trying to sell the rarer enthusiast Euro and Japaneses cars in an area that didn’t really have many of them originally (Erie, PA). They have pulled off some really impressive builds at this dealer including a different SVX with a 2JZ and a 6 speed manual

I test drove one and just didn’t get an sort of tingle or desire to drive it as a fun car hard. It didn’t have much character since the engine really had a wave of torque from just about zero rpm it seemed. It didn’t need to be pushed hard to be fast and hence it didn’t really reward you for pushing it. It certainly

I like your advise. Toughest thing I have found teaching others to drive stick is being able to modulate the gas and clutch ina way to make the car smoothly start. Most people are too afraid to give it gas or cant understand slipping the clutch.

I really prefer cloth interiors. They are more comfortable in the winter because they aren’t crazy cold. They are more comfortable in the summer because they aren’t 10million degrees when you jump in your car. They are super easy to clean, just need a vacuum cleaner instead of having to use leather conditioner. Plus,

That issue was the only reason I have ever voted on the proxy cards I get in the mail. That was a bunch of BS and I felt strongly enough to fill out the card with my recommendation and send it back.

I usually jump the gun and put my summer tires on, on some super nice warm day in March then April rolls around and we get a good Easter snow storm. Tis not fun driving in snow on Michelin Pilot Super sports no matter how much tread is on them.

I own a shirt that says MPower. It is slightly awkward to wear now that I sold the M5.
I was strongly considering buying a red ski helmet and putting white stripes over it and checkerboards down the sides to match my Mini.

I have a friend with a 3.6 of which I have driven many times. That thing makes a glorious sound, the barks it makes on down shifts are incredible. The ATS with the 3.6 is the closest experience I have had yet to driving a BMW e36 with a big inline 6.

Not really broke. The total money we have invested in our current e38 is less than the price of an average new car today, and we have been driving it for 8 years. That includes purchase price and almost exclusively BMW dealer maintenance to keep it in perfect condition. Contrary to popular belief, 90s BMWs are

16 years of owning an e38 740iL, still love it. It is the perfect highway cruising car and you always show up in style in an e38.
