I keep forgetting how lax New York State inspection is. That car would never fly in PA, especially with a suspension in that bad of shape and any rust hole in the body.

You know, I can’t think of a 5 series generation that didn’t look better in wagon form than sedan form. The e39 sedan had a pretty kick ass rear but the wagon was just as good.
But does it have character? No.
Their inventory certainly doesn’t turn over fast. Every time I get hooked on one of their e36s I find a better optioned nicer one for less. I know I can make it just as clean as they do. I do wish they would stop putting the expectations so high for other hopefully people trying to sell their old BMWs.
Very impressive!
I have had two super narrow saves.
Interior dome lights are definitely taken for granted. I never thought much of them until I got my Austin Healey Sprite and realized how dark the interior was at night. Eventually I figured out how to turn on the gauge lights (hidden factory switch under the steering column) and converted the gauge lights to LEDs.…
I fully know what you mean, I have a big old FWD Oldsmobile 88, it does the trip from NW PA to Philadelphia to visit family very well. Quite comfortable, though a bit of a handful on the new 70mph section of the PA turnpike.
You know, I never really thought of it, but fan noise really bothers me as well. It is hard to have a conversation in most cars with the fan running.
This is why my mother still owns an e38, 16 years after she purchased her first one. It sure isn’t because it is reliable, they have been expensive cars to own but she loves the style so much that she just wants to keep it. She has stated when then current one dies (the second one she has owned) she wants to replace…
I can tune a a set of dual SU Carbs, thank you very much.
I drive my convertible with the top down on most days it is over 60F. It is old and British so the top doesn’t add much weather protection in the first place.
Yep we are going to kill the US auto industry by making it uncompetitive worldwide again.
This is why my grandfather never parked his Austin Healey Sprite above his Ferrari 308GTSi on the 4 post lift. The Sprite was also precariously narrow to fit on a 4 post lift, tires were just on the inner edges of the lift.
Sounds just like my R56. Only difference is instead of the oil filter housing gasket leaking, I had a coolant hose that rubbed through on the transmission housing.
It is indeed an awesome engine to drive. I have a 2013 R56 Mini JCW, the turbo lag is an absolute hoot to play with. “When it is working correctly” is a key though. Two weeks ago I overheated mine on the highway with no warning that it was over heating. It is now getting a new engine under warranty. The engine got to…
It would have to cost less than a perfect condition low miles 90s Oldsmobile 88, as I like mine more than the Chrysler 200. So less than $3000.
Ok, so it was illegally parked.
