The iPad has 'next gen' specs, as in, half a year ahead. First, the A5x is an evolution of the A5 the same way the A5 was of the A4 and the Pentium 3 was on the Pentium 2. Second, in October, the iPhone will have the same CPU. That's what I mean when I say "pretty much the same guts".

What I want is an ultrabook/tablet combination. Slider keyboard for the win. Touchscreens are great, but I want that physical keyboard.
Amount of feature and level of refinement have little to do with eachother. Refinement is about how well the parts of the 'machine' work together - not about how many parts there are.
I think the idea was that the camera isn't interesting enough to be used to actually take pictures with, and as such should have been placed on the front instead.
They have the top, but they're losing it pretty fast. If I'm right, the market share is now split about 45-55. And while I agree with your strategy, the thing is: there's no killer feature ahead of it, not that I can think of anyway, that's not already implemented.
