I wonder if it’s more of an Uber/Lyft vs Taxi situation. If the ‘big’ car makers only make the higher profit models...there literally won’t be anyone left to make the smaller low profit models.

can’t find the correct reply to this comment, but I mispoke when I said ‘EV” trucks need dedicated lanes. I meant ‘AV’ automated vehicles. AI just isn’t up to the task of free range driving and won’t be for decades.

Drivers in some cases aren’t even allowed to open their loads, locked and sealed until opening at the dock. On docks, liability probably says you stay in the cab for the most part.

Rail is decided not as in use as it practically can be. We’ve chosen to federally fund roads and not rail. That needs to change. And sadly b/c we made the previous choice it will be much more expensive now.

My, fairly dated, experience was *we* as the recipient unloaded the trucks. I drove the forks to do it.

I’d say direct gov or not, Hally is fa-a-a-a-t on gov money.  So that likely spreads out and bumps compensation across the board

eh, that’s less about the ability and more about the customer acceptance. The latter is only a good idea away from a *really* quick turnover of the industry.

Nuclear is terrible. It’s too expensive, it has unsolved waste problems. Something that for a year of output requires active maintenance for ‘longer than modern society has existed’ isn’t a realistic solution.

Eh, OP has sort of a point. The ‘rare earths’ aren’t rare by amount but are rare in any given volume of earth. I.e. they’re fairly dispersed instead of in concentrated veins. They also require a lot of effort to actually extract.
