Nuclear is terrible. It’s too expensive, it has unsolved waste problems. Something that for a year of output requires active maintenance for ‘longer than modern society has existed’ isn’t a realistic solution.

Eh, OP has sort of a point. The ‘rare earths’ aren’t rare by amount but are rare in any given volume of earth. I.e. they’re fairly dispersed instead of in concentrated veins. They also require a lot of effort to actually extract.

Insurance isn’t required in every state. In VA you can literally post a few *hundred* dollars bond in lieu of having insurance. Boggles the mind but it’s legal.
