For a single leak, sure, but I suspect there are untold numbers of methane pathways in that ground. Plugging this one is just going to redirect elsewhere.

Given that the gas is constantly replenishing, I’d think creating a significant vacuum due to cooling wouldn’t really be an issue.

“You can’t fill up if you’re stuck on the highway in a storm.” Agreed, but you said it was more likely for ICE cars to be partially filled when leaving home. that’s more a function of ubiquitous gas stations so I know I can fill up literally anywhere before getting stuck the highway.

As the saying goes:

I think it’s much more likely that you’d find a person who left the house with less than a quarter tank of gas than a person with less than 25% charge on an EV.

That 1-2 seconds going from brake to gas, per car, per lane, per rubberband slow/stop cycle is pure wasted time gridlock.

My experience in HOV lanes. I have a hybrid that was allowed to use VA/DC area HOV lanes as a solo driver. I had a 20 mile stretch of I-66 straight shot of single lane HOV so there wasn’t much of any cutting in front going on.
