VA prides itself on maintaining a low tax rate and a balanced budget. So VDOT is always scrounging for money if we get even a handful of storms in one year.

yeah, I think it’s 20 over posted is automatic reckless, and 80 is always reckless even in a 70. Do. Not. Speed. In. VA., they like their revenue stream.

It was well publicized the night before.  This was fast developing but not that fast.

As a Rochester NY Native living in DC area, they don’t get right out and plow nor do they have the resources to really attack a large area.  They can slowly grind down a snowfall, but a lot fast isn’t really feasible.

Obligatory

I believe I read the reason was to cut down on occupant ejections in crashes. And that submersion was a much less likely occurrence.

Well, think of all the weight savings he’ll gain walking to get help! ;-)

Yeah, surprised me too. Even with something substantial doubtful you can get the momentum needed in the space available.

Well if the windshield goes ‘walkies’ you won’t be needing the window breaker ;-) I kid I kid. Definitely a good point.

I went with reflective triangles instead of flares. Figure they don’t ‘go bad’ or have a limited run time. They are a fair bit bulkier though. And aren’t really visible unless light hits them obvs.

I have a pretty well stocked kit in both cars but this is something I hadn’t thought of.  Very good idea!

Caveat that cars since 2017 started requiring that door windows are also laminated like the windshield. (thinking is ejection from a vehicle is more likely than submersion so the lamination prevents ejections).  So only the rear window is still tempered glass.  (and I ain’t fitting out some of those tiny rear

the DC high voltage line is something that surprised me. I think most people with a ‘normal’ amount of knowledge take the ancient DC vs AC competition and the current AC high voltage lines to mean DC can’t do long distance.

so you’re saying increased battery life then ;-)

To that end, maybe a capacitor device to allow charge holding that doesn’t wear out nearly as fast as rechargeable batteries.

40 people in 28 months is nothing

Roch NY born. My Dad literally never winterized any of the spigots and I don’t think we had the outdoor spigot type; the turn knob isn’t perpendicular to the pipe like the example. He grew up in Detroit so isn’t at all unfamiliar with winter...lol

Yep. Didn’t need a movie to tell us the story of the soulless Trump presidency, the equally soulless Bezos/Musk and the mind numbing social media ecosystem.

You seem nice.

so question, how was the cop supposed to know whether this was a worker cleaning a cage and someone *else* let the tiger in accidentally vs this worker sneaking into the cage with a tiger in it?
