In my home suburb of Rochester NY, our local school district would start the diesel buses at like 3-4am to have them ready for the morning runs. Assume that was to have them at a safe reliable engine temp (and from this article I guess to heat the interiors). That’s a fair amount of wasted fuel.

Batteries aren’t cost prohibitive....it’s that gas powered anything is wildly discounted at not handling it’s overall costs.
