In my home suburb of Rochester NY, our local school district would start the diesel buses at like 3-4am to have them ready for the morning runs. Assume that was to have them at a safe reliable engine temp (and from this article I guess to heat the interiors). That’s a fair amount of wasted fuel.

Kessler Syndrome has endlessly fascinated me given that it was predicted 45 years ago.
I’m assuming an EMP is several orders of magnitude larger than ‘normal’ things sat’s need to deal with. Even X-class flares from the Sun are survivable if you have warning.

The video shows the payload crashing through some sort of fabric cover on the opening. Which just seems like it would add some serious variability in it’s path.
I like marveling that humanity’s penchant for polluting ‘over the hill’ actually works in terms of the Sun. We can literally send the entire planet in and it won’t so much as burp.
