There’s a much larger reason to rush into them. The climate thing.

2025 is entirely delusional. *maybe* by 2035. Which in the grand scheme of things *is* still ridiculously fast.

So very odd. In 40 years of having/needing AC this has literally never happened to me.

Just irks me that a minority of these insurance policies are for frontage lots and buildings and we get to subsidize them.

which they dust off from time to time

Not directly downwind powered by the wind you can’t.  Watch the video starting at 7:30

Starting at 7:30 of the video is the best explanation. watch how they turn a sailboat on a plane into a propeller.

Just replace the battery when needed. It’s a couple/few grand, but it’s a far far more reliable investment than replacing an engine or transmission on a used car.

Heh, I used that fact to eeek out an extra emissions pass. in 2010, I had a 2003 civic hybrid with the big battery basically dead. Honda routed that fact through the check engine light.

see above, OBD isn’t generally required on EVs...which seems problematic  lol

That is Sofa King cool!

Set a tax per mile, read odometer annually, modify by vehicle registration(weight)

I’m think a crash where the rear door comes loose and now the front seat passenger doesn’t have a belt on.

Do we though? We’re a large area country so having a lot of rail doesn’t mean high density.

The average family has 2+ cars. one for trips and one DD. EV’s are *perfect* for this.

next you’ll tell us it would be more efficient too!

true, though I’d expect we’d also be moving to corrosion resistant materials too. Aluminum can do the job and help offset battery weight. Cost is a bit of an issue though.

Even if we take their position as true....EV’s will be on the road longer than comparable ICEs. Less complex and almost entirely refreshed when a new battery is put in.  We’ll see a sizeable increase in useful life of EV vehicles.

You’d think this would work but it may not. Toyota’s hybrid tech *requires* the battery I believe. The car stops and won’t budge without a working battery.

So I here’s my experience. I bought a 2003 Civic hybrid and drove it till the battery was dead, 140,000 it was useless and at 160,000 it wouldn’t pass emissions. Batteries are a *lot* better today.
