The impression I had was the year before he had to take time off, which means he missed actual practices. This year he attended everything he had an obligation to attend, ran the marathon on an official day off, and was back at work the very next day.
As I understand it, this year it was on a day off, whereas last year it wasn't. I don't think it is unreasonable think that something that your employer doesn't want you taking time off for is perfectly acceptable, and even none of his business, if you do it on your own time.
You're right. Good call.
wait wait wait wait wait wait.
Okay, but that would be a misconception, not a misnomer.
Bingo; its all marketing. Period, end of story. You could call it tractionmatic, quadwheel drive, alltire, or any other stupid name; if it does or can drive all 4 wheels its all the same bag of beans. The means of which the split happens is inconsequential. Its like saying that only DOHC engines are top valved.
Nope. 3 pedals are manual. Everything else is automatic. You're in a "dual clutch automatic" or a "traditional torque-converter automatic" or a "single clutch lock-up torque converter automatic".
The transfer case makes all the difference, and while both will give you more grip, 4WD with hi/low gearing and locking differentials is what you want off-road. Your AWD grocery getter most likely doesn't have that.
If the transmission has a "Drive" mode whereby it will shift its own gears (which all modern paddle shifters do) its an automatic.

I have to say, though - once he got tackled, the guy put on a pretty impressive display of dog-jitsu from a grounded position.
