    Woah.
I want the kids out of their pajamas before breakfast specifically BECAUSE I want the mess to end up on the regular clothes. We have way more regular outfits than pajamas, so I need those pajamas clean to wear again tonight. The regular clothes are going to look like a disaster within an hour after dropping the

Fans, yes. Of course. But what do you mean by auxiliary cooler? And are you suggesting that modern cars have a way to keep oil circulating with substantial flow without the engine running?

Coolant cooling is certainly nice for turbo bearing housings. But while that cooling process is taking place, while those parts are still hot enough to vaporize pressurized coolant, the oil in the turbo housing is just sitting there getting cooked. I’d rather have flow there while it’s cooling down.
    If you’re just

    That’s a 2015 VW TDI manual.

2015 is fairly modern in my opinion:

Completely true for a modern turbo.
And I think you knew that, or you wouldn’t have said “not the best thing to do repeatedly.”
Modern turbos are impressive little devices, no doubt. More importantly, modern oils are impressive at handling excessive temperature. But neither beats basic physics and chemistry. Extremely

Is this one of those “it’s funny because it’s true” things? Because it is true. You should not be asking for full power immediately after startup or before shutdown. That applies to all engines really, but especially turbocharged ones.

Try them in the middle of a bagel with cream cheese. The hotness of the cheetos, the coolness of the cream cheese, and the extra crunch with each bite make for a great combo.

Did VW stock the thing with a 300ZX service manual? Or does one of you guys just always travel with that?

“the seller says no test drives without an agreed upon price”

Interesting that CA requires 90+ CRI. You have to search like hell to find decent CRI LEDs in the Midwest and the South.

“Did the recent fatal AV-related crashes change your mind about them at all? Or are you afraid they’ll never be safe for the road?”

“But for car ownership that involves multiple drivers, electric seats, and particularly seats with memory settings, are a big bonus when swapping drivers.”

My barber is me. And his broke ass can’t afford even half of the cars he wants.

I’m most interested in comparison between the two chassis. Do you feel a reduction in stiffness in the Boxster from the loss of a roof?
And how’s the road/wind noise compare between the two?
Any unexpected difference between what should be very similar cars?

    Yep.
In truth though, I don’t think the destruction of pension plans is a bad thing. Tying your retirement savings to a particular employer makes about as much sense as tying your health care to an employer (very, very little). But I don’t believe that optional 401k plans are the right replacement for pensions. Social

Pensions! They just don’t get it.
I got into finance conversations with my recently retired parents not long ago. They have no grasp on just how much money their pensions really represent - money that they did not have to save and grow themselves. I calculated for them what lump sum value would need to be saved to

I’m a day late, so probably nobody will see this. But some might be interested.
It should be noted that bigger wheels and tires do not actually reduce wheel horsepower. They reduce wheel horsepower during acceleration. Because the type of dynamometer they used for this test took its measurement during acceleration, it

Maybe it’s a regional thing then. My own prom was much less than 30 years ago.

Fair points! I was absolutely thinking about what we paid for a wedding photographer, and that’s probably wrong.
My prom photos are just some cheesy pics at a thing they had set up at the dance. They could probably be called terrible too.
