We've definitely thought about that. I have looked into this type of environment for her, but I wonder if it'd be in her best interest because she does REALLY well with a lot of structure. She loves schedules and knowing exactly when things are going to happen, etc.

We've considered this, but her teachers won't sign off on doing it because she isn't getting her work done. Ugh.

Interesting to consider, I've dealt with depression issues most of my life. I'll definitely do some probing. Thank you!

LOL, I appreciate the input for sure. My husband has said that he was much the same way as she is but we do want to make sure that there isn't some bigger issues. She does have issues making friends and relating to kids her age. We've noticed that she's frighteningly perceptive and will read people to a point of

I'm leaning this direction. She has a good relationship with the school psychologist and I'm planning on shooting her an email tomorrow.

Good point, it's possible. My husband has said that he was much the same way as a kid, but turned it around in high school. I was somewhat similar, but for me it didn't really happen until high school when I started figuring out that I could still pull a 3.9 GPA without ever doing homework.

I've definitely considered this and we do a decent amount of supplementing at home, allowing her to explore her interests based on the books she reads. She and I do a lot of reading together and she's fantastic when I teach her YA books, or more non traditional work that's a little above her age level. The teacher

I've considered this. We do have a weird schedule and have had some life changes in the past couple years with me going back to school full time as well as working full time. In the past year, my husband's job schedule changed drastically putting him essentially gone Fri - Sun every week. This has been going on

The ONLY thing she ever will focus on is reading. She is currently enthralled with the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series right now and she loves researching the Greek and Roman gods & goddesses. That's about it, really. She gets excited about things and then gives up on them pretty easily and I cannot figure

Anyone have experience with a kid that just won't put in her best effort in school? My daughter is in 4th grade and just turned 10, but since she started kindergarten, we've been fighting a battle with her putting any effort into school. She's extremely intelligent and is currently tested with an extremely high

Public toilets are terrifying. Especially at night. And when you're alone, even in the daytime. I'm SOOOO HAPPPY that my husband finds it hilarious when I come running out of a public bathroom. And every time, I'm like haven't you SEEN Copycat and Scream 2???? (or is it scream 3 when the guy gets stabbed through

Ok, seriously, Angelina looks absolutely amazing. The dress, the hair, the red lipstick. And that SMILE. She kills me. She looks so sexy, happy, and confident. I didn't think she could get more beautiful, but there, look, she did.

Because that's really the only way to read them. I tend to read things in people's voices if I know what their voice sounds like, but Wanda really stands out.

this seems like the only logical explanation. keystone pipeline, a new war, something. it's all kinds of fucked up and i'm not a fan. i'm personally quite worried and considering moving to another country once i graduate.

You know, it's stories like this that make me wish that my local council wasn't such a toxic environment. I would love to still work there, but I had to leave that job because it was killing me.

idk if i'm just not in the good 3-7 emotional scale zone but the pix posted had me all choked up. also, wishing i could've been there to participate. stupid living in nebraska. this stuff is scary and has me all worried about the world my daughters are going to be teenagers and adult women in.

haha, I need a little bit of everything! do you mind shooting me a message with your email?

awesome, thank you! do you mind sending me a message with your email?

yes, actually it would for establishing a scope of what women read!

I am working on a project on "chick lit"/modern romantic fiction geared towards younger generations of women. For part of my work I'm reading a few different works of "chick lit" and Twilight, but what I need help with is doing some reader response analysis on these types of work. So questions will be focused around
