I bought a brand new, better-equipped (GT), equally as fast, more modern ND Miata for $25.8k. There was no way in hell I was going to spend that kind of money on an 8+ year old Honda with the features/amenities from 16 years ago.

You are describing something slightly different. I can actually understand holding a verbal tip against someone, even though your actions (lowering their rating) won’t modify their behavior (boasting about non-existent tips).

I’m not sure why you’re having trouble visualizing the events as told by the passenger/witness/cameraman:

From the article you didn’t read:

Have you seen Rossi?

If you had an emergency, 911 is there for that.

So you’re saying you go into your history from the day before, view who didn’t tip, and lower their rating for not tipping?

No, my point was that low weight is less of an advantage than strength/stamina in road racing than, say, horse racing.

Racing cars is extremely physical. Maybe not as much as football, etc, but it is reasonable to consider there to be physical demands that a top level male driver will be better suited to handle than a top level female driver. I’d think the physical sports where women would have the edge are things like horse racing,

Interesting. I agree that a driver should be able to see on which rides they received a tip and for how much, so they learn what does and does not earn a tip. But being able to adjust the rating afterward is terrible. Even still, I doubt many drivers will bother doing that. If the app won’t lock out rating adjustments

Drivers typically rate down for no tips. When you have a low rating you have a harder time getting a ride

Even if this is true (if so, it’s a significant update since I was involved), the driver wouldn’t know at the time of rating the rider.

“Ride share” was the term Uber coined to usurp the taxi companies. It was a big part of the spin they used to avoid having to abide by the same regulations as any other cabs. Others use the term as commonplace, not as a strict definition. It would be nice, though, if we all made a collective effort to shift the label

Not a real problem. not a problem at all. Drivers can’t see who tipped or what amount; drivers only see their total tips from the day before.

Anyone who uses Lyft or Uber knows this is NOT a real concern. Drivers of Lyft don’t know who tipped what amount (unless they only had one ride that day), and riders complete their tip and rating after existing the car.

I have a t-shit (from Red Bubble- similar to Blip Shift) with a kinda silhouette of the ND Miata. Even though I own an ND, I still only wear the shirt to car events or places I don’t care how I look.

Not my cup of tea. A car with a tow hook, but still rocking the stock 4-spoke steering wheel just rubs me the wrong way. And the exposed rivets on the fenders makes it look like someone wanted to do a budget build on a salvaged 911. Also, the exhaust is misaligned.

Just a couple hours ago, I was stuck behind a late model Jetta wagon TDI. Every time it accelerate, a plume of black soot shoots out of the tail pipes.

The thing is, there probably are 6,000 U.S.-based Honda fanboys dying to get a Type R. Despite this car being way overpriced, and over-styled, with a muted exhaust note, a relatively slow 0-60 time, and being FWD only, there will probably be no 60-day-old examples on dealer lots. People overpaid for the S2000, too,

The RS is still getting at least MSRP. But the Golf R is already coming down to MSRP or less.
