But drag is only one element here, no? The speed at which a car would be most efficient would involve power, weight, torque, power curve, gearing, etc, no?

But what is better about 55 mph, than, say, 45 mph? If there is always a cost with every extra mile per hour, then 55 isn’t a sweet spot.

Duh. But is 55 mph the sweet spot for EVs?

I hear in Oregon they fined a guy for suggesting the speed limit could be raised in some areas, for fear his analysis report would cost the state precious speeding violation revenue.

Does this 55 mph magic number apply to electric vehicles cd as well? If not, then it won’t matter in a couple of decades.

My best/worst car was my 1985 RX-7 GSL-SE. It was my second car, so I’m sure some of the “best” part is due to that. But it was a fun RWD manual sports car that revved for days.

So the board could have brushed his request for review under the rug with a simple “Sure, we’ll take a look.” before binning his report, thereby making him go away. Instead, they made a huge stink about it- fining the man, making threats, and stripping him of his rights- thereby bringing on a lawsuit and national

And my point was that airbag failure rates are very low in general, so any time you hear of an airbag that failed to deploy, it is noteworthy.

You’re confusing an airbag not deploying when it is designed to with an airbag deploying when it wasn’t supposed to (after an accident has occurred and the system may be compromised).

Unless cars are designed to not deploy the airbag if the occupant was also not wearing his/her seat belt, the airbag should have deployed. I can’t imagine it would be better to hit the steering wheel vs an airbag in any case.

If a head-on collision happens at a speed great enough to hospitalize the driver for a month, the airbag should have deployed.

Yes, it is called the Ford Performance Pack.

Not to mention you’re more likely to get a dealer to (heavily) discount a stock Mustang on which you can install the performance pack. I imagine dealers will have this RTR body-kitted car on the showroom, locked, with a “DO NOT TOUCH - ask sales associate for info” sign on the windshield.

Yet the fact the driver’s airbag didn’t deploy is glazed-over. I’m not a fan of the falcon wings at all, but I’m more concerned with Tesla’s response and the fact that the driver airbag didn’t deploy in a head-on collision.

Except for the videos of M4s, C7 Corvettes, Vipers, etc crashing at C&C.

almost 99 mph

...outright handling isn’t as important as keeping customers from killing themselves.

As a buyer of a new Demon, I’d rather have a blank plate than one with my name on it. I’d assume resale value would be much higher on a blank plate car than one with “Pinks1ip” on the dash.

And paid for the hike in your insurance premiums in the meantime, since you no longer had an active theft-deterrent system, or even the denied insurance claim, when your insurance learns that you didn’t use the alarm you told them you had installed.
