Yeah. Out of curiosity, I looked on craigslist in my area and only found a few TDIs- a couple salvaged title and one at a dealer listing it for double book. Presumably, they want to sell it at an inflated cost to someone without a dealer license who is eligible for the restitution. Funny, though, that they’re still

Um, I didn’t suggest you were advocating for first class flying.

I suppose that would be the safest move for VW, if they knew they couldn’t follow the rules and would eventually be caught gaming the system again.

Aren’t the miles accrued between September 2015 and time of buy back calculated in the restitution and/or NADA value? Is it possible some of these cars are offered for sale because they racked up a ton of miles in that time and washed away much/most of the restitution amount?

Here’s my take: It’s a huge luxury to be able to say “I think I’m done with budget airlines.”

There just needs to be a happy medium. I don’t want a muscle car with 6500 RPM redline, but I don’t want 9000 RPM redline and 140 lb ft torque at 8800 RPM, either. A 2.4 liter with VTEC (or 2.0T) that puts the bulk of the mid range in the middle of the damn range, revving to 7500-7800 would be great.

Honestly, I think I’d like an S2400 with a K motor or whatever they’re called. Everyone likes a high-revving engine, but the reality for most of us is we enjoy torque more. I’d rather not have the weight and complexity of a mild hybrid; just give me a torquey NA engine and KISS.

NA engine, 9k RPM redline, attainable price...

Appropriate. The NSX reveal took almost as long as a DBZ fight scene.

I don’t think they read your article. Bumping the $50k estimated price by $5k is equally ridiculous to the notion that 320HP isn’t fast.

That is my point; it wouldn’t be larger than an RC-F. The RC-F already has a heavy Franken-chassis.

You have too many issues for me to bother itemizing.

If their recent commercials (Camry brothers racing in Monaco, and “grounded to the ground” testimonials) are any indication of Toyota’s desire to provide a home-grown sports car, I think you’d better not hold your breath. :-/

I’m not going to pretend I’m very familiar with the Lexus RWD platforms Toyota may have at their disposal. But given the Frankenstein’s monster of a chassis they designed for the RC-F (part GS, part IS-C), I can’t imagine they have a well-designed RWD chassis that would lend itself to a Supra/86 compact coupe.

Mazda makes the Miata because their brand as a “driver’s car” lineup depends on the halo car effect driven by the most sold roadster in the world (despite the CX-5 being the bulk of their sales).

I doubt any auto manufacturer uses the Netherlands as their mean for measuring dimensions, purely based on population statistics for global sales. That said, Netherlanders (any Dutch and neighboring Dutch people, really) are taller folk than Americans, not to mention Asians.

I missed the racism-filled comments section to which you refer. Where can I find said reading material (for lunch time popcorn snacking)?

I agree that Hyundai could improve the design of this part to accommodate “large” people. But it’s BS to say they were defrauding him by taking his money in the first place.

Bean counters be countin’ beans. It’s cheaper to share costs on a low-volume unit. Lexus already has RWD platforms, but Toyota doesn’t.

People who complain about that can’t even afford...
