What a bizarre thing even not counting gender identity. You can wear whatever the fuck you want and others can fuck off.

It’s wild to me that there’s still people in this century that see a woman and think “she MUST wear a dress.”

You don’t watch an actor to be impressed at their memorization. Yeah, you might think “Wow, that was a long soliloquy, that’s some impressive memorization!” but hopefully you were more taken by her emotion and body movement and convincing evocation of the character.

“She is an alcoholic party girl.”

It’s fucking insane. Categorically, DSM-level insane.

An actor memorizing a specific and limited set of lines is much different than a spelling bee contestant theoretically memorizing how to spell every word in the English language. Though of course that would be impossible. Rather, they learn as many as they can and use their knowledge of word construction to fill in

The Depp trial taught me that I've been too hard on kpop stans.

Which time? Because that was the philosophy I tried to follow during the UK case, where there was a verdict, and I thought “Great! I can have an opinion now!” But then all the Depp-heads wanted a do-over, despite the fact that I wanted to go back to ignoring it.

hmm yes because the jury system work so well. she already proved it in court before you know, with a judge who would have been a hella of a lot more impartial than this circus.

the Rihanna one was weird because they didn’t even sound very similar, it sounded like lots of other testimonies. I guess people just read the headline and believed.

We learned that if you pay enough to astroturf YouTube and dozens of other websites with material slandering your ex-wife, you can get away with anything.

My main takeaway is that the judge is a dumbass for making the trial public.

If Heard somehow survives this without overdosing with what I’m sure has been an impossible time to maintain sobriety or taking her own life, then I’m both amazed at how resilient she is and extremely sad that anyone needs to be that resilient.

the internet still didn’t pile on Weinstein or Cosby the same way they piled on Heard though, it’s fucking vile.

Whether you believe the testimony of Depp’s side (mostly made up of people directly financially dependent on him asserting that he’s a good dude who barely even drinks $100,000 in wine a year money) or Heard’s side (backed-up with lots of text messages and receipts, etc.)

I think that’s right. Or, maybe, that the public has only gone so far when it comes to #MeToo. It was easy-ish to get people on board with hating Harvey Weinstein — he’s a bloated, grotesque studio executive who preyed on women in obvious ways. But it doesn’t necessarily follow that people aghast at Weinstein’s

I think the main takeaway is that people have no idea how complex abuse is, I don’t know how you can look at the timeline of events and your takeaway is that Amber Heard is somehow hurting the cause. She is part of the cause and being a victim of abuse is messy. The doubt the public put in Heard that somehow the real

Correct.

1. People are desperate to find a case to undo the gains of MeToo and will amplify any edge case they can.
