I don’t really think that the premise is all that great or even original, it just sort of re-frames the very old idea of arranged marriages. Men in the right position could just pick a girl who was pretty and had the right list of interests or whatever. Then she had to learn to live with him and try to make the most

yeah, it’s not a great business model

There is no “patriarchy as you mean it.” It is a defined term:

It almost seems like they’re becoming an incubator for shows in hopes of getting one truly big hit. If a show runs and it performs decently, they sell it to the highest bidder and get the money to then start another show. They’ll probably do this until they get a Stranger Things or Ted Lasso of their own — a show so

This is so sad and predictable as we already have seen how ciswomen on the right love to spew hatred at ciswomen on the left for not being a woman “the right way.” Now it’s a conservative trans woman telling another trans woman “you’re not doing it the right way.” Good for Mulvaney for sticking up for herself but also

“My overriding memory of it is that I had pizza and garlic dough balls beforehand and all I could think about was my garlic breath while Taylor was dying in my arms and I was trying to show emotion,”

If it took $10M for Matthew Perry to kick drugs, it will take $1B to get Ye back in touch with reality. This is no longer JUST a mental health issue.

It’s still really something for him to think “the universe is random and cruel” rather than “oh my friends with serious drug problems keep dying from drugs — this isn’t random at all.” It’s such addict logic. Blame the universe and not the drugs and Hollywood party culture.

Exactly — and it’s no coincidence that bisexual people are thought of as inherently deceitful or needing attention, especially if they’re very conventionally attractive. People assume they can’t be monogamous or that they’re only doing it for the attention or that they must have kinky sex preferences or that “they

Her tweets claim the state came but she was able to talk them into letting her nurse the emu back to health. Which... isn’t how ANYTHING works. I don’t believe a word of it.

But what you’re really saying is you get 6 months off a year AND you don’t have to worry about saving up for retirement since you’ll die before 60. Sweet!

And it’s helpful to remember that there’s no reason any work like that should be so demanding. It’s usually because companies are either understaffed or just pushing people beyond their limit to maximize profit. It sucks.

Conversely, I think there’s a pattern where certain professions attract people who have anxiety disorders or other mental health issues because, in a way, it plays into your strengths. I have generalized anxiety disorder, and I was attracted to stressful, demanding work because instead of my anxiety making me stress

I think the real problem is that the media would be covering this differently if Russia had Tom Brady or Claire Danes in prison, or even Kevin Durant. Because Brittney is a Black woman, she isn’t as big of a celebrity (the WNBA isn’t given the same respect and coverage as the NBA) and isn’t getting wall-to-wall media

It seems to me that maybe she made the whole thing up to garner goodwill after the whole “oops you found my old racist posts” thing. Because she just talks about the birds dying, not anyone coming in to euthanize them.

That’s an absurd train of logic because any society that has truly deconstructed the gender binary would not be able to be a patriarchy. Because if there are no women, there are also no men. By making “woman” an exclusive term, we help fortify the patriarchy, because we are making gender restrictive. Pretending

I feel uncomfortable with the fact that, most of the time, it’s Black and mixed-race kids whose parents are celebrities that we hear these “omg look what this ultra rich kid did” stories about. Like what upsets people isn’t the typical rich person behavior, but that it’s not happening behind old, white yacht club

This is terribly sad. He was just on an episode of The Trixie Motel, in a bit where he and Trixie Mattel tested out lifeguards for the motel pool, and it was, as he always was, hilarious and delightful.

Yeah, this show’s impact on people who don’t think critically is wild.

It’s weird she frames it as being in favor of the family and Britain, when it makes far more sense to do this for the hordes of under-educated people who watch this show and think it’s 100% true-to-life.
