Urgggh that looks painful. I'm lefthanded, and hold my pencil sort of like the picture in the beginning of the article, but the end of my thumb rests on my second knuckle, and I hold the pencil between my middle and pointer finger. And I write so the paper is tilted at least partially sideways. D:

Some cases of abuse, I can understand how they happen. Someone with a background of physical abuse, who has poor coping skills, for example, might lash out at their child and harm them. I'm not saying it's excusable, just that I can understand how it happens. With something like this, I don't understand it, what sort

It's possible to have great skin and still benefit from makeup. My skin is generally very healthy; except for a very rare breakout, it's smooth and free from blemishes. But I do have more translucent skin in some areas, and want to fix any uneven coloring. And sometimes it's fun to play around with different looks.

But who wouldn't choose baby animals over candy?!? :D

Well, shit. It really makes me uncomfortable to look into most people's eyes, but I've always made an effort after being informed that this is something normal humans do, and that if I don't people will take it to mean I'm dishonest or don't like them. So a huge amount of my social interactions are this horrible,

I think it makes sense, since death is something we're not very connected with in our society, and since morticians are some of the few people who actively work with the dead. Do you mind my asking what site she's on? Death and all the topics surrounding it are fascinating to me.

I know there are some cultures that had traditionally practiced ritual cannibalism and where incest (especially among members of royalty) wasn't taboo, but those are indeed pretty common taboos. And I can see why, especially in societies that feared the dead or the spirit world. But it seems odd that it would be that

I don't understand how necrophilia is supposed to be the worst possible thing, the "most taboo thing we can culturally imagine." I mean, I'd rather deal with the whole repulsive aspect of fucking a corpse than I would molesting a child, or even an unwilling adult. Surely it's worse to harm a living person than dead

But what happened to the otter? :(

I'm a sucker for flakies, and love Nfu Oh flakies polishes. One polish that I love that got discontinued (not a flakie) was Rimmel's Zeitgeist, which shifts gold/green/purple/dark pinkish purple. I bought a bunch on eBay as I could find them, but I have about six bottles now and don't think I need anymore. :P

From the articles I've read, though, it sounds like the cat did just swipe the baby (the parents said during the call that the baby didn't need any medical help, so it couldn't have been bad). The cat didn't continue to attack the baby, it was only when the guy decided to kick the cat (an early article I read said he

This story pisses me off so much, as does the way it's being reported as though the cat were just an aggressive animal. Fuck the piece of shit owners in this story. The baby pulled the cat's tail, and the cat reacted by scratching the kid (mildly, the owners told the 911 operator it didn't need medical assistance).

It doesn't even seem like the cat has a problem with kids; the baby pulled its tail- which would be painful AND startling to the cat since the baby just hurt him without giving any signs of aggression first- and the cat swatted the baby. The parents said the kid didn't need medical attention, so obviously the cat

The cat didn't attack the baby, it reacted to having it's tail- a very sensitive area with lots of nerves- pulled by the baby. It was defending itself from a creature roughly its own size that just hurt it for no apparent reason. The parents should have prevented that from happening, if only for the baby's sake.

My thoughts exactly. How many other women has he done this to? Because I can imagine this happening and the victim being too scared to report it or thinking that if one cop is willing to rape her, then other cops would have no problem ignoring her claims, destroying evidence, or even making her "disappear." And I

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I have a hard time saying it was his fault. It seems like his mental illness was so severe and untreated, and had gone on for so much of his life, I don't think he was very connected to reality. Just like we don't charge children for crimes as adults, it seems wrong to

Not only that, but it seems to me that a lot of people don't even want to admit that mental health issues are real. In the New Yorker article, Adam's father calls him "evil." This is a word I've heard way too many times to describe people with severe mental illness who end up doing something terrible after years of

Ugh, that's pretty much what happened to me. My tooth was a little sore one night, then I woke up the next morning looking like I had a golf ball stuffed into one cheek. I had to lance the abscess on my gum so it wouldn't burst on the way to the clinic... it was like milking an undead teat. ;__;

Are you taking probiotics? I had a really bad abscess in my gum about a month and a half ago; the infection seemed to come out of nowhere overnight. I was worried about taking antibiotics, since they usually upset my stomach and give me a yeast infection, but the nurse told me to take probiotics and I ended up having

I agree, and can't understand how anyone missing their pet would not make it their mission to find it if it went missing. Now, if she had called shelters, described the dog, and they told her they didn't have it when they really did, that would be one thing. But she apparently couldn't be bothered to do that for about
