Oh man does this bring back memories. I will never forget my junior high guidance counselor, Mrs. Hunt. I went to her with a complaint about the sexist remarks my shop teacher, Mr. Becker, was making about female students (yes, I did have alternate names for both of them). I was crushed when her response was that my

This isn’t about the privilege of waiting for a dream job instead of taking one that you desperately need to pay the bills. This is about an individual who got a job and instead of being grateful to land it decided to shit all over it. Publicly. She could have counted her blessings and put aside her hate for children

Let’s redefine privileged here. She was privileged enough to be offered a job at a daycare that she apparently needs to pay her bills. She promptly blew it by telling everyone how much she dislikes children. The daycare was privileged enough to show her the door. And now children, who deserve to be cared for by people

Check your spelling—it’s hear, not here. FFS. I’m done checking my privilege whenever some self-righteous type tells me to, but thanks for your opinion.

Some idiot from Medway, MA who very likely has very little understanding of history in general and certainly doesn’t get that these two cultures and riots are not alike in the least.

Scottish and Irish from the South living in the Northeast. That sums it up nicely.

And other sources say it's not a myth at all. But, since this isn't about the Irish or slavery it's not relevant to this conversation.

Emily Post is positively spinning in her grave.

No harm done. Not like slavery or having jobs or even being Irish has fuckall to do with what is happening in Baltimore. Which is why the comment, aside from the obvious, was so unbelievably stupid. Sigh. As they say, you can't fix stupid.

It sure does. I couldn't believe how awful the comments were. This one just struck me is high on the stupid scale.

I know, right? The stupid was strong with this one.

Um, you do realize I didn’t make that ignorant comment right? I paraphrased one I saw online this morning made by somebody else.

I don't know how it's possible, but twice in one week I'm speechless. Thank you for sharing this. It's a very important perspective and one that everyone needs to hear.

Oh I know! It’s embarrassing to be Irish when I hear shit like this. FFS, being Irish and slavery have fuckall to do with this particular situation anyway. Apologies for my language, I just hate stupid people.

The dumbest fucking thing I read today was a comment on a Boston news site’s FaceBook page.I’ll paraphrase...

I miss Tim Russert. Apple fell way too far from the tree. Couldn't agree more.

Then the cafeteria where you work is just awesome! Let me know what you think.

No sympathy. If you don’t like working with children (lol) then don’t apply for a job that by it’s very nature requires you to do exactly that. Let somebody who enjoys doing so have that job. Win win. The kids get somebody who actually likes them and you don’t have to do a job you hate.

I know. It sounds revolting, but it's really good. Creamy peanut butter, potato white bread (so pillowy), and only (this is crucial) Route 11 dill pickle potato chips.

I saw that article. It was great! Made my Monday.
