That makes sense. I remember the e30 community being pretty damn on-point.
Yeah, but the idea behind these posts is that the perceived maintenance costs are out of whack with the actual (DIY) maintenance costs, creating an arbitrage opportunity for the DIY-capable.
Sorry, I meant weak like “tends to break, and expensive to fix”. Agreed that it’s not an especially impressive package to want to make sacrifices for.
It’d be nice if these articles included an assessment of the cars weak points, and how difficult they would be for a DIY-er to address. Otherwise we get a bunch of “don’t buy a used german car!” generalities in the the comments, and no way to evaluate how bad an idea this actually is.
Packaging is the big thing. You can’t get away with such short front overhangs under modern safety rules, and that’s the main thing that makes these look cool. They’d also be a lot less practical if they were 2ft longer.
Mine was the F430 era. When they juuuust started sharpening up the jellybean design language, but hadn’t gone all hourglassy and oddly proportioned
Man, that front end is surprisingly retro. And not in a good way. Strong 90's vibes
people who already vote one way “taking up the mantle” won’t change election results
I got to my perspective by being raised (mostly) secular and liberal.
Not really. Everyone knows that breaking a rib hurts, and smart people can invest the energy in imagining it. For the kind of people who think they get a say in other people’s reproductive decisions, they either have to experience it themselves or live with someone who is.
How do you get men to empathize with how hard it is to raise a kid if they aren’t exposed to it?
It’s like stealing a Picasso. It can’t be resold anywhere or insured because it’s stolen.
This article, video, and press release are entirely about designers. Why does the headline say engineers?
True. We shrunk the SUV until it worked for most people, rather than growing the hatchback.
No idea. Maybe they’re still up because they aren’t selling.
Imo the Y is a little too weird looking to have come out before the 3. The vertically-stretched hatchback with no lift is a new-to-world thing.
I’m not sure about the demand thing. Model 3's with 15k on my local craigslist are still selling above msrp.
UK pronounces the hard “j”, and I think that was the original intent. The “h” sound comes from Latin American, where a lot of them sold. The latter sounds a lot more natural.
You fucking rock. Thanks for this.
