No. The problem is that it was stupid and manipulative (logical inconsistency aside). When multiple people in a theatre laugh out loud at a scene that is not meant to be funny, you have a problem. And ofc, the fact that it plays off of Fisher’s death is a shit move.

Why would he agree to do the reshoots without being paid? He exercised a part in his contract for his own benefit. That is what you want actors to be able to do. What you should be arguing for is actress to start demanding these kinds of contractual obligations. They have a union and they should be using it.

In all likelihood, the movie is gonna be awful. Nearly all movies produced by studios are awful. Of all of those awful movies, a good chunk (100%?) of them are reboots. Also, of all of those awful movies, a good chunk (100%) of them star pop artists.

Because it was a beautiful film that was otherwise completely empty. It tried to have it both ways: saving the mystique while holding the hand of the average viewer. Such an approach rarely works. Also it was nearly 4o years later.
