So non-binary is the same thing as a woman? I’m genuinely puzzled.

So... a student who does not identify as a woman is irate that they can’t be in an organization for women.

Deplatforming is not simply an inconvenience: It’s violence.

So what’s the middle ground? The social media platforms that have guidelines against posting/advertising adult content do have the right to outright delete accounts that post openly adult content or attempt to steer users to sites like OnlyFans from a public Instagram account, since part of the push on social media

Liberals when it comes to censoring conservatives: The 1st amendment doesn’t apply to private conpanies! They don’t owe you a platform!

While we can agree a country that can spend $1 Trillion on defense shouldn’t have a homeless or mental health crisis. Playing semantics with the term “Homeless” is silly.

Yeah a few of these are sensible advice (I think the advice not to go down a slide with your kids makes sense for example). But a lot of them seem disproportional in the sternness of the warning versus the actual risk.

I don’t want to be that guy, but... this just sounds like “playing with your kids will sometimes result in your kids getting hurt.” Well, yeah. That’s the risk that comes with physical activity. Letting your kid climb trees runs the risk of them falling out of trees. Letting your kid ride a bike means they might fall

“This drug is used all the time with no ill effects.”

That’s a fair criticism and I agree with you. CJ Roberts dissented in that case with that exact line of thought. The same argument could be made with the original Roe verdict as well - which was RBG’s criticism of the law. However, reversing a lower court’s decision with out actually hearing the case is an insanely

There are some large factual errors in the reporting here. The first is that the justices should have dismissed the case entirely... they were never asked to. If they did dismiss it entirely that would be a wild abuse of power which would then be used in cases where you disagree with their decision. Courts respond to

It’s nice that you think expansion is ever on the table, but it’s not. If they blocked access, there would be some tweets, maybe a dozen statements, and 50,000 fundraising emails. But there would NEVER be a true challenge to the status quo.

Yea. Oh its that there are bad people. So selling them the device that allows them to do way more harm is a ok.

“the devices do have the potential to become a threat, he emphasized: ‘That is not Flipper’s fault.’ He added, ‘There are bad people out there, and they can do bad stuff with any computer. We aren’t intending to break laws.’

There was a study done locally that dug into this - many of the local restaurants increased the tip percentages on their debit machines during the pandemic to things like 15/18/20% or 18/20/25%. Most were typically 12/15/18 or 10/15/20.

I really wish there was any sort of citation for the linked article’s claim of:

Yeah - it’s kind of weird that this piece is acting like it’s a shameful secret when they literally made a whole-ass episode about this exact subject. It’s like the writer of the piece never watched the show or something.

“but the point is that this conversation that’s now happening has been happening.”

This is spot on. I’m 72 and watch my 3 year old grandson a couple of days a week, usually just for a few hours to fill the gap between his parents’ work schedules. I absolutely adore him, but physically, sometimes it’s hard to keep up. For example, I can’t sit on the floor with him, and I’m super careful about

I mean, that seems like a very broad overgeneralization. And being sick of people saying that’s just your parents doesn’t mean that it’s not true. Sorry that’s what your parents were like but I was part of my parents’ ‘first batch’ (they had me at 25 and 27) and in my house it was kind of the opposite. Parents can
