For me personally, this sort of quieter episode which develops characters a bit more and sets up future plots is what HotD has been missing. Part of what made GoT great in its first few seasons is that it unfolded the plot at a good pace so you cared about the characters when big things happened to them.
It sure seems like they read the “some said she was Daemons bastatd daughter” bit and thought “we have a daughter of Daemon at home we’re not using.”
Hold up but Corlys has lost a wife, two children and an alleged grandchild in name only to this senseless Targaryen war. When Corlys requested the Targaryen’s for help defending the seas Viserys told him to kick rocks because peace was more important than helping him defeat a common enemy. Now when a brother is taking…
Still feels dangerous strategically for the greens. Now there are no male heirs after Aemond, and the small council just made a big deal about that too.
That was Baela! They really don't make it easy to keep these names straight, lol
Rhaena has been pretty awesome lately, which makes me really afraid they’re about to kill her off. I don’t feel like I really trust this show not to be completely transparent with its foreshadowing, so hearing her talk about how she wants her death to be in dragonfire was not comforting.
Vhagar is just that much bigger than any of the other dragons currently in play, and Aemond is just that much better at being a dragon rider than anyone besides maybe Daemon. Rhaenyra is correct to build her strategy around him. That’s what happens when a bullied kid dives into his training and no one else does.
Balerion was the black dread. If the show is right that Visenya was Vhagar’s first rider, then Balerion should have been even bigger than Vhagar currently is by the time he died at like three hundred years old.
The people in charge keep whining about not being able to ride their own dragons into battle. Aegon did it and got himself almost-killed. So now that Aemond is in charge, why is everyone so worried about him riding around on Vagar? Yeah it's the Black Dread but a rider can still be killed - or does everyone just know…
This Aemond stuff is off-book and a bad adaptation choice: Aemond knows better than to deliberately take out a dragon and a dragon rider on his own side. He was happy to be prince regent, but seriously, this is bad character work and they’re lucky that Ewan Mitchell can make this all hang together. I also don’t…
I assumed Cole only thought Sunfyre was doomed and was saying they left him to die because he was taking too long. Could be wrong though.
Sunfyre dying off screen is kinda a major change. No spoilers but that dragon plays a very important role at the end. So now I'm curious how that'll go now.
Does it point out how often he’d pantomime masturbation on stage? It’s made his old bits pretty unwatchable.
A lot of them had actor commentary tracks, which were very prone to being boring unless the folks were treating it like a hangout session (one of the best commentary tracks from actors was the one for Resident Evil). The good commentary tracks usually came from directors/writers/showrunners/etc, and this sounds more…
Absolutely, but DVD commentaries were never the only place to hear what went on behind the scenes.
If you “grew up” watching Lord of the Rings? Jesus. I was in my 20s when they came out! Old. Old. So old.
I don’t care for the man’s work but I do respect them for these. I don’t care what anyone thinks about physical media, DVDs during their heyday were just treasure troves for movie lovers.
television as ephemeral as light snow on a spring morning.
are all shows not fake shows?
