Many, if not most, corporate lawyers get paid to maintain status quo and look out for their employer's right to bully employees any way they like - not to be progressive or moral or humane.

That's how lawyers and courts speak.

I believe the definition of "conspiracy to commit murder" in NYS requires two things: an agreement between two or more parties to commit murder AND a concrete act toward the furtherance of that crime. I suspect this was probably missing the second part.

You can't hero without being in the vicinity of an incident, can you?

That having been said, I would totally consent if given to opportunity to perform consensual anallingous with either Allison Williams or Miley Cyrus - but not motorboating or whatever that amateur hour crap is.

Lang had probably already committed to nailing the guy before he heard the whistle. But that's who he is. You gotta accept a "tough guy protecting my teammates" penalty from time to time. That was bad timing, though.

I'm a big Lisa Bonet fan. I really liked her (minor) role in High Fidelity. I've always been disappointed that she did/has not achieve(d) greater stardom because she's very personable, likable, seems intelligent (other than the anti-vaxing stance that someone mentioned) and obviously an attractive woman. Also

Those rules are awful. Counting preseason games? Ridiculous.

Isn't alcoholism a big part of what derailed Ryan Leaf? And prescription medicine abuse did the same for JaMarcus Russell? This isn't new and it isn't irrelevant.

I think this also gets muddied by the notion that saying someone "can't handle his alcohol" can be interpreted as questioning his toughness or manhood.

The 10 vote limit is definitely a huge factor. On those "already-known ballots" linked above, it looks like well over half have voted for 10 (eyeballing it). If you assume that many of them have named Pedro, Johnson, Smoltz, and Biggio, then presumably next year they're going to "have room" for four more guys with

So, considering all of that, what is your ballot?

The hold no-call on the game-winning TD was unbelievable, but I have a hard time having a serious conversation with someone saying "they were facing two teams" - this was not the 2002 NBA Western Conference Finals. This was a decent crew of officials that were a bit out-of-sync all day - I don't think they had an

Agreed. His mistake wasn't misinterpretation/misapplication of the rules - it was in not resolving the different feelings on the play before he made a first announcement to the crowd. As the crew chief, that's on him. He should get the guys together and have a conference asking each "what did you see?" and resolve it

And what's Tony Wyllie?

RGIII was great for about ten games about two years ago. Then he ran into Haloti Ngata.

PSLs are offensive on several levels, but to say they're not a form of private financing (when the only alternative to calling them "private financing" is to call them "publicly funded" or "taxpayer funded") is disingenuous. At least in the form of PSLs, they're passing the cost of doing business to the people (now

Is there any new information in this rant or is it just taking the opportunity of the NFL playoffs to cry foul on the stadium financing deal from like 6+ years ago?

Which is saying that you could pick any random pedestrian and chances are he has as many career playoff wins as Dalton.

You don't announce a penalty, then reverse it. In a regular season game, much less a playoff game. In managing an officiating crew, that's amateur hour. Typically, I've viewed Morelli as an average official (which most years is good enough to get a Wild Card game), but this is a huge ding on his record. Then again,
