Slow down on the obit- the fact that Volvo INCREASED its sales by 4319 is a very good sign for a company that hasn't had a new model in aeons. Further, this thing is still about $40,000 lightly optioned. The economy is getting better but it's not a cheap choice- and there are very few in stock around my parts, so I'd

I think the Mazda CX-5 did excellently -it was the older, bigger CX-9 that was a mess.

The 'buy a skirt' line in the MGB category was pretty tacky, small minded and childish. Somehow in my travels, I've met a lot of people.. and quite a few cross dressers or 'sissys' or whatever he/she is implying. One skirt wearer is a former Nascar driver. One is the most expensive cabinet builder in Sonoma County.

That's easy. Everybody knows Lexus is luxurious and reliable. They've got that sale made for anyone who wants that. Now they want the sales from people who want zing, élan, surprise. Those buyers typically have found little at the Lexus dealer to impress them till recently.

Do you know someone who's actually had to replace a hybrid battery? Most taxis where I live are hybrids- usually with 100,000-200,000 miles and I've never heard a driver say anything but praises. No replaced batteries so far. They might not drive with vigor but being honest, this is a stunningly reliable category of

How wide is it, unfolded side mirror to unfolded side mirror? For some inand reason, car companies quote width with mirrors folded. OH- and does it have power folding mirrors? (I really get into the sexiest questions..)

There's a 5 speed manual ES300 on Craigslist in Palo Alto, CA for $1000.

On many levels, I LOVE that people are buying small cars- however, I'll add, I've seen a LOT of Sparks as branded car-share or rental cars…. so judging their overall popularity with the general public might be presumptuous. Side note: I've seen one miRAGE (doesn't it sound ferocious when it's spelled that way??) since

No gloating. Just facts: My '06 Sienna turned 130k today in the Napa Wine county. No recalls besides a possible rusty spare tire. Love that rig. After BMWs and Saabs, this Toyota concept is a revelation. Sorry for the Honda buyers. Transmissions, defective fuel pumps.. no thanks.

I read Jalopik probably every 4-5 days. Before Kinja or whatever it's called, it was twice a day at least. I find this format so discombobulated and inorganic, it's off-putting. Off putting enough I just stopped visiting the site. That said, the new single column for the right 2/3 of the page is *vastly* more user

Flawless. Sexy. Covetable. Perfect.

I want BOTH. Take the Caddy front bodywork and side trim off (despose of the rest of the vehicle) and graft it onto the Sunbird for a Cimmerbird convertible. Neither car could look worse and you might actually increase the value.

I'm just super excited someone else besides me (that would be the writer of this article) thinks current MB styling is overworking the 'melting ass'. MB needs an ass lift on every sedan, coupe and coupysedan they build. Pronto.

BMW should be co-investors. This idea is a lot more appealing than the experience of suffering run-flats.

Picking a Volvo over either of these cars is mega-cool. Stealth trumps obvious every time. Especially in an R. Well played.

A while ago I read that the X-Type wagon is amongst the rarest production automobiles on the roads. I'd venture the newest Saab 9-5 might be in the running also. I do love a rare 'normal' car though.

I think of this era of Taurus EVERY time I see a new Mercedes-Benz sedan emerge.. the CLA, CLS, S and new 2015 C-class all vibe in this direction. Oops.

As much as Volvo needs the new XC90, I think there's the GIANT opportunity to make something nobody else has (yet..). A premium, lightly prestigious well designed, patently safe family van. Y'all want a coupe and I would like one too but Volvo needs a standout high-margin vehicle that competes with nobody else (until

You all *really* like that 6 series 4-door? I think it's a dud. If you put 'Chrysler 400' labels and switched the grille on that thing nobody would doubt it for a second. Reminds me of a lardier 200 and a '96 Sable. Bleh. Still less rococo than a CLS but that's no compliment.

I'm not going to defend the IS however, anybody who thinks the current 3-series is the pageant winner, might need new glasses. it's a snore and a bore for stealing the 5-series also-dull garb. Dynamically lovely (I own an e46 touring) but BMW is hardly leading the fight for interesting car design.
