They’re road legal in the UK, and as far as I know, our laws (on cars) are more stringent than any US states.
When Peugeot converted the 206 to right-hand drive for the UK they moved all of the controls over to the RH side as you’d expect.

I just scrapped my 2001 Peugeot 206 and it had a pretty similar interior.
It’s a bit boxy and unfinished for me, but I still think it looks more like a modernised Defender than Land Rover’s current version.
