You are technically correct, the very best kind of correct.

I agree but the talk is all skewed with EVs

Dude, he is a bad faith troll with a history of shit stirring and extremely bad-faith discussions. The clapback is funny, but you are wasting your time.

Since the feature was introduced in the 1980s, any patent would have long expired.

They’ve been around since 1980. If they were patented, that patent has expired by now (you get 20 years from the filing date).

A patent from 1980 would have expired 20 years ago in 2000.

I don’t think so, patents only last 20 yrs.

In the US, utility patents (which protect an invention for how something functions, as opposed to a design patent - so this would fall into that category) have a 20 year life. Meaning at this point, this is public domain. And because combination locks had already been around forever when FoMoCo came up with this

I don’t think it is, mostly because Nissan briefly offered the same thing in the 80s and 90s.

Patents normally expire after 20 years.

This anonymous juror is a hero, and whoever he/she is, I hope they get all the airtime and a fat book deal out of this.

I believe in all gods the way you believe in all but one.

you were in the wrong lane then, slower traffic needs to keep right.

Are you sitting in the left lane?

If people are passing you on the right, they aren’t the icehole.

Why would you assume this has the original engine when nothing else is original?  Porsche flat sixes fit well.

I thought about making something myself for a second, but I don’t have a sewing machine and wouldn’t trust myself to hand stitch anything. I’m sure it’s not terribly difficult, but I’ve literally never sewn anything in my life. Would fabric glue work as well as stitching?
