Bertone is the latest Italian style house to be on critical life support, facing bankruptcy right now. It's tragic for sure, but commendable they've lasted this long considering how many of their counterparts are long gone. Robert Cumberford has a look back.
Excellent work Patrick! Great follow up on the original.
Glad to see Michelin is still taking their tire development seriously. The twin small block equipped Citroen DS with 10 wheels from 1972 (aka the centipede) is another example of their ingenuity. http://interestingengineering.com/citroenmicheli…
I'm glad they're doing test drives now. I got to drive one (my first time!) at Amelia Island a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. The test drives need to be in traffic that allows some sampling of the 8.4L. I didn't get to use much of the 640 hp, but I do now know that the clutch is easy in stop and go traffic.
What will be more interesting to see though is how the new Porsche Macan swings this equation. Sure, it has a wide range of engines and trim that will swing prices quite high. But it's also charged with significantly increasing Porsche sales.
The cashier at Barnes and Noble asked if the car from the superbowl ad was in the magazine I was buying, which was the Feb 2014 issue of Octane with a special on Maserati. Somewhat ironically, it has a Ghibli (the original one) on the cover.
"Auto racing pioneer Barney Oldfield tries out the new Miller FWD Special as Harry Miller, builder of the race car, stands at left in Los Angeles, Ca., on May 13, 1932. The front-engined four wheel drive, which has a V-8 type motor and weighs 2300 pounds, will be entered in the Indianapolis Memorial Day race by the…
In 1952, you could get a neat detachable hardtop.
We are living in an age of automotive glory. There's been a domestic economic recovery, and we've witnessed increasing federal fuel-economy standards, advanced design and engineering technologies, and an industry willing to go after niche slices of the vehicular pie. This has all resulted in the development of…
I think the LM lights look best.
It's better if the entire car is a wing and that car is a Porsche 908/3
That's the old concept version of the XK before the production car came out. Still Jaguar's chief stylist Ian Callum's younger brother Moray is a designer at Ford and did use the E-type for inspiration on the Taurus. Regardless, Jaguar is moving away from the plain oval grille.
The GT-R vs F10 M5 comparison seems to illustrate nicely that the GT-R has some more well finished competition in the higher price points.
How about pretty two-tone cars?
I say the BMW M1 is an improvement on the turbo concept of 1972.
I stopped by on Monday to take some pictures, which can be seen at
Fiat seems to have become a success by selling a stylish and capable small car. Maserati seems to have done the same in the luxury car market. Maybe Alfa Romeo can repeat their successes by bringing a stylish and capable car to the near luxury segment? Maybe it doesn't have to lead the segment in every category,…
Well the initial ATS effort turned out about 5 cars in the early '60s, so this could do better by just building a dozen cars.
