Sounds like they gave you an old but stable (as in doesn't totally crash on you) build of the game. I wouldn't be too worried about the final build. Trust them.

The problem with all of these beautiful 3DS XL special editions coming out is that we all know there is a "NEW" 3DS coming out in a matter of months.
