I have a feeling, though, that for a lot of families, they just made those cars work, but if small SUVs had been around back then like they are now, parents would have loved to have those instead.

The huge, often unspoken benefit in a taller vehicle like an SUV or crossover is loading and unloading children from their car seats.

I’m not saying you need a giant SUV to fit kids, but back when I was a kid you were lucky if your parents even put you in a car seat. Have you ever tried to fit a rear-facing seat in the back of a sedan? How about 3 car seats side-by-side in one row? They literally will not fit in a lot of mid-size or smaller cars.…

I can take a lug nut off with a ratchet or an impact. Both do the same job, one does it easier.

We had two kids and a CR-V and it was doable with the car seats and double wide stroller but with the stroller in the trunk, we couldn’t fit much else.

This literally has everything you listed, including the V8, without the 5 speed, because no one makes a full size truck with a manual. Because no one wants them. Tons of people want Raptors, etc and will pay big bucks to get them. Engineering and producing a 5 speed manual transmission for a truck that maybe 10 people…
