Among Hispanic families it’s usually each parent’s father’s name that gets passed down to the kids. So the kids get a hyphenated name from each of their grandfathers.

Slightly off-topic, but why is a 19-year-old woman described as a “girl”? I recall the same thing in another recent story posted here about an 18-year-old female victim (can’t remember the crime). Just seems inconsistent with the language normally used on this site.

Hmm... I’ve lived and worked in Quebec for over 10 years, and they *really* don’t like being confused with people from France. I think “francophone” and “Quebecois” (for those from Quebec) are more common, at least among people that I know.
