The US has a population of 160 million, whereas the Netherlands has a population of 17 million. The distance from US to Puerto Rico is also 7-ish times shorter than the distance between Netherlands and St. Maarten. NL’s efforts are a lot better than what so far the continental US has done for PR, despite coming from a

He is a Packers fan. He gives away or sells all the season tickets EXCEPT the Packers game. Why can he not express his Packers fandom by wearing a Packers jersey at a Packers game? How is that trolling?

Hear hear. If a national team plays, fine. If it’s for the championship game, fine. But before every peewee game of football? That’s basically jingoism.

No, that just solidifies the reason why he is protesting DURING the national anthem. He is protesting racial inequality and disproportinate police brutality towards people of color. He is protesting during the anthem because he is “not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people

It’s because protest is supposed to be something against the norm and has to be noticable. When the national anthem plays is when everyone is kinda paying attention, so it makes sense to do something then. But kneeling or sitting is not disrespectful. It’s a very peaceful way to call attention to a very real issue.

Well this isn’t a show of corporate anything since it was an idea by the players, and the players’ statement was written by one of the guys who sat last week, and raised his fist the previous two weeks.

Following him on social media and hearing him speak, it does sound like he could’ve wrote it. It’s a VERY carefully worded statement, designed to say what the issues are but in a way that could not possibly offend anyone. Probably too careful to be really effective, but it does touch upon the issues of equality,

“This is about equality. This is about unity and love and growing together as a society and starting a conversation around something that might be a little bit uncomfortable for people,” Rodgers said.

I see where you are coming from, but as far as I can tell by reading quotes from Aaron Rodgers and a few other players, this came from them, from an internal players meeting, and was Martellus Bennett’s idea.

Then they should do it before or after the game. Off the property. Even if their goals are worthy, that doesn’t mean anyone has to cater to them. They choose to do it at the game because it gives them maximum exposure. At the same time, it’s bringing controversy their bosses don’t want to deal with.

I’m just jelly they found one for $500...

I think it’s more “function over form” than “no fucks given,” and taking complicated fabrication and engineering out of the equation for the sake of “just doing it.” Piping doesn’t fit under the hood? Just cut a hole. Like that.

I can’t stand poeple like this. NO ONE IS PROTESTING THE FLAG!!! They are protesting DURING the national anthem, which is also not protesting the anthem itself. WTF??? FFS why anthem = flag = Murica = the military = the police? I don’t understand. Sorry, I know preaching to choir here but wtf.

All these guys have made it abundantly clear that they are doing this as a personal choice and their opinion is their own. One could also argue that they are not on the clock yet because the game hasn’t started yet. They are being paid to play the game, not to stand and “pretend to listen to the anthem.” It’s idiotic

Or we could ALL try to make it so we live in a country that is fair to everyone and everyone is treated equally. Just because you say there is an issue does not mean you are disrespecting the country. The flag+anthem are not the country. The country stands for “liberty and justice, for all.” The flag is a symbol of

Regarding kneeling: This started as a protest against the way black citizens were treated by police. Perhaps these multimillionaire athletes would be more comfortable playing games in a different country where skin color is less of a problem between the people and the police.

Sadly, while true -and your last sentence sums it up nicely- these people have no clue what they are pissed about, and DEFINITELY have no idea what the guys protesting are pissed about. And that is the whole issue.

You wanted rodgers to throw it like 90 yards in the air into the end zone? Okay... He drew the Bengals offside, took advantage of the free play, and got the team in position for the winning FG. I’d say that’s pretty clutch, regardless of what another player did in another situation in another game, Mr. Whataboutism

You do know that Kaepernick donated a million since last October to good causes, right? And holds tons of workshops and seminars about equal rights and social Injustice. He, like many other players as well, do a lot more than kneel/sit. They are working in theircommunities.

Such dumbshit logic. “We campaigned on it so we have to follow through.”
